Things Nigerian Youths Should Hold For The Future by TheRareGem1(f): 2:32pm On Feb 25, 2020
The future has already arrived at our doorsteps, perhaps much faster than we expected. Life is not fair so get used to it the best way you can. If you are born poor it is not your mistake, but if you die poor it is totally up to you. Let me take you on a ride along this imminent journey called the future; how it affects you and what you may need to do as the future is already here.

Let me start with some realistic notions, with the advent of information and technology, massive opportunities for getting well-paying jobs and lucrative entrepreneurship opportunities all over the world without leaving your home is now the order of the day. There will be a truly international market place of idea showcases, talent displays and opportunities, but to access these spheres, you need to self-educate and self-develop. There is a growing awareness that there are good and commercially viable ideas out there if you can only tap into them.

Technology comes in different forms and is applicable to all spheres of human existence, for giant strides to be recorded in this pursuit, you must have a great adaptation of ideas and applications in working with technological tools/gadgets.

Silas Adekunle, a Nigerian inventor and technology entrepreneur is well-known for creating the world's first intelligent gaming robot. Adekunle has partnered with Apple, signing an exclusive distribution deal to sell his product in both the United States and Britain. In November 2018, he was named on the Financial Times list of the top 100 minority ethnic leaders in technology.

Success is a lousy teacher, it seduces smart people into thinking they can’t lose. As technology keeps developing on a daily basis, if your application base grows couple with adaptation, you can become known all over the world. We have seen this happen time after time, once the idea is top notch and can attract the tech giants to buy into your idea. Invariably this will upgrade your standard of living. Jack Smith and Sabeer Bhatia, the software gurus who built Hotmail in 1996, sold the company to Microsoft for 500 million dollars in 1997 and retained their positions on the board of directors.

Sim Shagaya, is the executive chairman of Konga, the e-commerce platform which he founded in June 2012. Apart from keeping the e-commerce flag flying, he is also the biggest employer of tech talent, specifically coders and developers, in the tech space.

Very recently in August 2018, five Nigerian teenage girls were crowned champions at the World Technovation Challenge in Silicon Valley, San Francisco, USA, winning a prize worth US$10,000 after beating competitors and teams from technological giants like the United States and China, as well as Spain, Turkey and Uzbekistan, who were among the 12 finalists in the 115 country-strong competition.

If a Graphic Designer understands how to add value as producing good logos or as understanding good business objectives, he will make or break the creative industries simply by selling value, creativity, and innovation to create more jobs and more wealth.

The real value in creativity and innovation is in identifying the opportunities and emerging threats and moving into a new space before others do. There are thousands of creative people working in their homes, and hundreds of thousands of people who have good ideas out there. The internet has simply provided a marketplace for us to exchange our skills with willing buyers, whether those skills are design skills, or ideation skills, or photography skills, you name it.

There are more skills getting discovered daily, the moment you can solve the problems that people have right now, or the problems they will have in the future. You definitely need to be thinking proactively as the world of information technology zooms forward daily at the speed of thoughts and ideas.
