When the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission charged Olisa Metuh the former Publicity Secretary of the People's Democratic Party for laundering funds meant for the war against Boko Haram, Metuh had explained that he could not have known the source of the funds Col Sambo Dasuki (the National Security Adviser) gave him.

He went further to explain that the said 400million Naira his company received was for a stated national assignment approved by the then sitting president Dr Goodluck Jonathan.

To defend himself therefore he requested the Justice Okon Abang led court to subpoena the former President and Col Sambo Dasuki (the giver of the money) to testify reasons why his company was given such funds.

But quite surprisingly, Jonathan the acclaimed hero of Africa's democracy failed to show up in defense of the then National Publicity Secretary of his party despite him been the approving agent.

The former President as it would seem only secured immunity from prosecution for his immediate family while his aides are hounded. We all witnessed how Orubebe and others including Deziani Allison the former Petroleum Minister is been branded as looters.

Jonathan and his wife Patience Faka continues to visit the presidential villa to wine and dine even though he ought to be called to account for the humongous pillage of our nations financial resources under him.

Metuh and Sambo Dasuki should not suffer alone because someone superior to them gave them express permission to assess the funds as such they should not suffer alone while their ex boss walks freely.

Most of you do not understand what's going on. Lol.
GEJ gave Dasuki money to fight boko haram. After all Dasuki was his NSA and national security advisor.

But Dasuki knew that once boko haram was still active, money will be flowing from govt.
So he did not want boko haram to die.
He kept the money.

Instead, he started using the money to give out to PDP officials who could influence the election.

Unfortunately, those people collected the money and ran away.
Jonathan lost.
Now karma is at work.

I used to respect Jonathan until I've learned that the man is a dunce, he's not worth supporting.
You learnt that he is a dunce? From where do you learn it? Is it at school or from the social medias or from APC media houses. My dear common common sense is not found in any of the above. It is from within you and you alone. Look deep, be rational as Aristotle said and then ask yourself questions, that way you will be a reasonable person. Gej may not be perfect, but he is too innocent for any rational man to see and above all such a gentle man. All this write ups are dubious to tarnish his image. For crying out loud the writer is a human just like you. If he is guilty the court will come for him till then he remain innocent of all accusations.

Supporting any Nigerian politician and condemning the other is as good as going into the room, locking it and messing. What you have taken out is equivalent to what you have taken in.
I believe the money was approved for the fight against Boko Haram. Those who were supposed to utilize it misused it and are being called to account for the use of the money. Just like Buhari has not said anything about the Dubai property of his chief of army staff and the grass cutting man, so also is Goodluck Jonathan entitled to bear withness or not. Any Nigerian politician will do just what Goodluck did. Buhari will even do worst. So, don't make it look as if he did what someone else wouldn't do. That's politics. They all claim being unaware of any serious mismanagement of fund by their subordinate. Look at Buhari and his people, what are they doing differently? Bro, forget who failed who and move on

I couldn't see any similarity in both cases at all.

If yes, pls, upload the video here so that the whole world will know he is what you claim he is, but if no, pls, go and get all Aristotle books on humanbeing being a rational animal because you are definitely an irrational species

He asked for 1 or 2 billion naira for this and that before he could appear in court as a witness and Metuh couldn't afford it. Lol.

Are they not looters? I'm sure that you will collapse if you see their accounts balances.

I am appalled by this write up. jonathan approved money for the purchase of arms, someone who was in charge of the procurement shared it to different people with fraudulent and non-existent companies. And you want him to be crucified with the thieves. If indeed the money that was given to metuh was used for a government project (with prove ofcourse), no one would be jailing him.

The issue isnt about what the money was given for, but was it actually used to for the project? Does Olisa have any tangible thing to show the court that this is what the 400m was used for?

Everyone who was given money from the arms deal and diverted it for other use should defend himself.

Did he execute the assignment? If he did he should show evidence of how the funds were applied plain and simple.

Because GEJ was a simple man they were all putting up bogus claims and the unassuming man was approving and now he wants to rope him in.

I remember when this case started and some of Metuh's destroyers who claimed to be his supporters here on Nairaland said umunna doesn't return money.

I guess Metuh was listening to such advise .

Metuh's greatest undoing was not agreeing to a plea bargain.

Since then, he's wasted time, effort, money, reputation and theatrics which eventually led to nought.

you have written or spoken well, but lets not forget the mindset and attitude of our people.

was this 400m Naira the only money he received during his period as a leader in PDP.....I don't think so. so now why was he only accused of this sum? a big question?

if your boss trust you with an assignment deliver 100% if not he will not defend you if the needs arises.

all the accused ate fat under the president because him trusted them with his life. and they called him a fool within their minds and hearts.

LETS ALL OF US LEARN FROM PEOPLES MISTAKES AND FOLLOW/SERVE SINCERELY.
