He went further to explain that the said 400million Naira his company received was for a stated national assignment approved by the then sitting president Dr Goodluck Jonathan.

The above extract is why Jonathan dare not appear on behalf of Metuh as a witness. There was no documentation to back up the approval and no contract was awarded for the so called national assignment. If Jonathan had appeared in court, he would have ended up putting himself in trouble. His lawyers knew this and rightly advised him to stay away.

Dasuki scted stupidly by paying the money into Metuh’s company account. If the money had been paid in cash, it would have been difficult to prove as Metuh would simply deny receiving it. Sadly, it’s the end of the road for Metuh. As the fall guy, he will eat watery beans alone in kuje prison.

Metuh problem was not Jonathan, his greed was the problem. You were given money by NSA and you said you dont know it was meant for security, NSA na finance minister.
The money was for a special assignment and till now you cant mention the assignment, you try.
If Jonathan was culpable Metuh would have implicated him to free himself.
They were all eating money under Jonathan thinking he was mumu. Now tell me who is the mumu now?

Well I want to believe there's a reason why GEJ turned his back on these people. Who knows if they're the ones who have him wrong advice that made him make a fool of himself during his presidency.

Metuh should take his L and cook it. His conviction and that of Orji Uzor Kalu should serve as a warning to this current set of APC members. Let them remember just like the table turned on PDP it can also turn on them.

Doing the right thing pays.

When the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission charged Olisa Metuh the former Publicity Secretary of the People's Democratic Party for laundering funds meant for the war against Boko Haram, Metuh had explained that he could not have known the source of the funds Col Sambo Dasuki (the National Security Adviser) gave him.

He went further to explain that the said 400million Naira his company received was for a stated national assignment approved by the then sitting president Dr Goodluck Jonathan.

To defend himself therefore he requested the Justice Okon Abang led court to subpoena the former President and Col Sambo Dasuki (the giver of the money) to testify reasons why his company was given such funds.

But quite surprisingly, Jonathan the acclaimed hero of Africa's democracy failed to show up in defense of the then National Publicity Secretary of his party despite him been the approving agent.

The former President as it would seem only secured immunity from prosecution for his immediate family while his aides are hounded. We all witnessed how Orubebe and others including Deziani Allison the former Petroleum Minister is been branded as looters.

Jonathan and his wife Patience Faka continues to visit the presidential villa to wine and dine even though he ought to be called to account for the humongous pillage of our nations financial resources under him.

Metuh and Sambo Dasuki should not suffer alone because someone superior to them gave them express permission to assess the funds as such they should not suffer alone while their ex boss walks freely.

Metuh has not provided any compelling evidence that GEJ approved the funds.

IF YOU MUST WORK TO FEATHER THE MASTER 'S NEST IN NIGERIA TRY TO HAVE A CLEAN HAND.

For the likes of Olise Metuh he did not have a clean hand.

When things goes the odd way the master leaves you swimming in the mess you were FRONTING for.

Back in the PDP days when the party was in control of the federal government, the likes of Olise Metuh were the politicians who were DOING BACK DOOR PROCESSES for the JONATHAN.

Now that the HEN HAVE COME TO ROOST he is now crying foul.

DO NOT ALLOW YOURSELF TO BE USE BY THE MIGHTY MEN OF THE SOCIETY.

Olise Metuh was the BULL DOG of the PDP were he orchestrated their PROPANGANDA machinery beyond all reasonable limit.

OLISE METUH was their chief criticizers and chief condemner of the Buhari government until he was arrested for corruption to the tune of N400 Million Nigerian Naira.

Jonathan thinks he has escaped Justice. He knows nothing.

It is piling up for him.

How can a court subpoena a citizen and he refuses to answer the subpoena and he's still walking free in Nigeria...oh, it is Nigeria where there are sacred cows. Almost forgot that part.

What majority of us don't know is that those accused, convicted and arrested are those that sabotaged the election money, they diverted it for their own use, so when PDP cast, they have to punish those responsible for their election failure/downfall.
Metu and co diverted money for election they have to pay for it.

Oga justice must start from somewhere. Don't play politics with issues of corruption, it gives these politicians more balls to steal our collective future.
Do you know how many people were killed in NE because dasuki and co decided to share that money among themselves? The deserve to be hanged.
Am not a fan of buhari but I support some of his govt efforts is jailing corruption even if it is one sided. Like i said Justice must start from somewhere

Your submission struggled to strike a nail to the point. Why would a national security adviser transfer money to the publicity secretary of a political party in the first place? Have you heard of such in your life before now? Does that not make you cringe?

In your submission, you imply that Jonathan should have been docked to provide evidence to vindicate Metuh. And invariably implicate himself? Please. You imply that Metuh is not culpable for receiving the money because he didn't know the source. If a thief sells you a stolen phone, and the phone had been used for terroristic activities prior to being traced to you, you must be arrested and tried to establish that you had no links with the terrorist.

And you state that Jonathan pled for immunity for himself and his family...what would have him do? I think your submission is incorrect as I am aware that Patience Jonathan is still being prosecuted. As for Jonathan, there has been an unwritten rule not to prosecute former heads of state: even the Obasanjo that investigated Buhari's tenure as PTF Chairman, stubborn as he was (and still is), he could not release the report (actually, it was because the investigation could not establish a prima facie case of corruption against Buhari). Even if it was established, Obasanjo would not want to incur the ire of the northern power brokers by humiliating Buhari.

Back to the matter at hand, Jonathan is actually a very intelligent man. How come everyone that wanted to do him in could not succeed? Even if he authorized the money to be transferred to Metuh (which I doubt), show us a document where he signed and put the Presidential seal approving such.

I suggest you revise your argument.

Lol, all Nigerian former leaders are culpable of on crime or the other, they can't be charged because the incumbent leader is culpable of crime also. The wise thing that Mr Metuh should have done was go on exile $1 million is enough to live on for 8 years. But hanging on the misconception that they have to nail a former president before they get to you is the height of folly.

I remember when this case started and some of Metuh's destroyers who claimed to be his supporters here on Nairaland said umunna doesn't return money.

I guess Metuh was listening to such advice .

Metuh's greatest undoing was not agreeing to a plea bargain.

Since then, he's wasted time, effort, money, reputation and theatrics which eventually led to nought.

Dear lordsterlin
Your opinion is why I do not like and stopped supporting buhari early in the life of his administration in 2015. We voted for you for change cause you claimed you wanted fight corruption. But how can you fight corruption when the source is intact? Immediately he gave Jonathan a clean bill of health, I knew he was no different from any other politician in Nigeria who just want power for the sake of power.
We sought for a transformational leader but got a transactional leader instead!! Truth is, even Diezani will never be prosecuted. At least not by Buhari. Nor babachir lawal.
As other events have shown, Buhari only wanted power for the sake of power, not that he had some deep vision he wanted to birth.
