Tariff increase yet no power supply, even when you see the power it's epileptic. This increase should be resisted , not fair

since you nor go school open your empty brain make I put am;
VAT is usually implemented as a destination-based tax, where the tax rate is based on the location of the consumer and applied to the sales price. Confusingly, the terms VAT, GST, sales tax and the more general and undefined consumption tax are sometimes used interchangeably. VAT raises about a fifth of total tax revenues both worldwide and among the members of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD). As its name suggests, value-added tax is designed to tax only the value added by a business on top of the services and goods it can purchase from the market.
You still haven't said anything Mr know all

whether you like it or not you are paying the 5% vat standard charge on any goods you purchase in Nigeria, though certain goods may be higher, as long a product did not fall from heaven the manufacturer pass the burden of vat to the final consumer.

What you don't understand is the fact that not all goods are charged VAT. The media and the Federal Inland Revenue Service aren't doing enough tax education hence the brouhaha from the masses. Indomie falls under basic food items hence they are exempted from VAT. Medical and pharmaceutical products like drugs are exempted. Educational materials, baby products, agricultural equipment, exported goods, medical services, religious services, exported services are inclusive.

Tariff increase cannot be the solution to power failure in Nigeria. Smaller countries have constant electricity, why not Nigeria. Even with the increase, is there any guarantee for constant power supply?
