None for now.
Maybe after you've been in school for 3 years, and maybe had a few industrial experiences.
For now, just focus on school.

well, they have a whole section to themselves on Nairaland.

3 in fact, if you count Programming and Webmaster sections.

Now that we've added Computer to the title, it just might heat up faster.

But then, geeks are always boring, no?

You can start with A+ at the and then move to Network +. By the time you understand this two,you should have figured out which aspect you want to go into

@Alpet, Both Ajanlekoko and Sky walker are right. Your priority should be your education because there you will learn some foundation IT fundamentals. During your Holidays you can read about A+ and N+.

Hello Nlders please i just graduated from university of ado ekiti now ekiti state university with a degree in computer science, we were not taught anything besides maths, we only have a few computer science lecturers who just teach us a few things they know from back in the days AND i can attest to the fact that the graduating class of 2011 dont know anything in the industry , some of us cant even open emails shocked , i have always been technically savy thats why i decided to do this course, now i dont know where to start from since all we did back then was to cram and pass . So please i need advice on where to start with all this certification courses, i have no passion for programming i barely passed c++ during a semester, how can a lecturer teach programming on a chalkboard without a computer?? trust me weve never been taught anything with a computer, so please where do i start from? i am more inclined in the telecoms direction, i am really desperate because i want to build myself and not follow the crowd to the banking sector!

I remembered my University days in level 2 when my computer science teacher writes codes on the board. I mean on the Board. Exams we had to cram the codes in our head.i mean we were not even sure if the codes would work and this lecturer made like worse for lots of people on this same course.people having extra year to come and do the course. It was ridiculous then. Dont know if such still goes on now. that was between 2002-2004.

hello pros in the house, I'm a fresher to this forum, I must start by commending all those who took out the time to make such an avenue available to us especially who are striving to be become pros too,more sophisticated ammunitions to ur arsenal. Please I recently concluded a six months intensive trainee program in IT/Telecoms with a well known training institute here in Nigeria and i'm currently studying for my CWNA exam,really was a eye opener cos now i got various options for various areas of specialization of my choice, but afterwards then comes the challenge of having an opportunity to get hands on technical exposure in order to put to use the skills acquired tru the training, please senior pros in the house, my questions go thus;
1. please how do i secure entry-level jobs cos most jobs i find always require experience?
2.can anybody help mi out with links on how to get recruitment with Resourcery ltd cos i hear dey do specialize in employing freshers and give dem the much needed opportunity the meet up with industry need?
3.what is the faith of a Fibre Optic Installer (FOI) in the industry?
much thanks guys as i anticipate ur helpful responses... cheers y'all !!!

Wait till they virtualize all your servers, you'll marvel at the offerings of the players in this state-of-art technology such as VMware.

I'm a huge fan of information security. I foresee cyberwar in the nearest future, especially with the global awareness of cloud technology. I developed in interest, read and passed CompTIA Security+, ISO 27002 Information Security Management and CISA.

When Windows 7 launched, I studied it like mad and went to write the exam Configuring Windows 7 - 70-680. You have to give it up to Microsoft, they got it right. I foresee companies deploying it as server 2003 is being retired.

People run away from exchange cos, you can easily get fired when the CEOs email is bleeped up( and they usually do). That's why it is the external consultants haven!

You right. Virtualization is also cool but its really complex. i mean IT pros are really trying. having to learn lots of stuff everyday. Those certifications are cool. i wish i could do them but at the moment,i am jack of all trade. its annoying in a way cuz i really want to specialize in security but not enough jobs out there at the moment. You right, exchange is a pain. mayb cuz i use the 2003 version ,you need to keep using a whole lot of third party tool to deploy some services. it really scares the hell out of me
