Tiamiyu Kazeem’s Death – IGP, Abiodun React, Sue For Peace by Haryourmieykhun(m): 3:26pm On Feb 27, 2020
nspector General of Police (IGP), Mohammed Adamu, and Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, have called for calm with an assurance that justice would be done over the unfortunate death of Tiamiyu Kazeem, a footballer with Remo Star FC, who died on February 22 in a controversial circumstance.

Recall On Saturday, February 22, the entire football fraternities in Nigeria were thrown into mourning when the shocking death of Tiamiyu Kazeem was announced.

He had an encounter with some of the anti robbery squad (SARS) who are responsible for his untimely death.

Adamu, in a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, Frank Mba, ordered “the Deputy Inspector General of Police in-charge of the Force Criminal Investigations Department (FCID), DIG Anthony Ogbizi, to with immediate effect, take over investigations into the circumstances surrounding the death of late Mr. Tiamiyu Kazeem in Sagamu, Ogun State.”

The police chief gave the order on Monday while reviewing daily reports of major crime incidents across the country.

While commiserating with the family and friends of the deceased, Adamu called for calm and assured that justice would be done in the matter, reiterating that any person found culpable would be brought to book.

Similarly, Ogun State Government has sued for peace over the violent protest that engulfed Sagamu town earlier on Monday.

“In the first place, the extra-judicial death of any resident in Ogun State is a very painful one for the government, let alone that of a promising youth, whose death the government will leave no stone unturned to ensure justice is not only done, but also seen to have been done at the end of the day.

“There is no doubt that our youth have the right to protest the killing of the late young football star,” said Abiodun, in a statement by his Special Adviser on Communications, Remmy Hassan.

The governor said what started as a legitimate peaceful protest was hijacked by criminally minded people, who turned same into a violent one.

As calm returned to the town, he urged the people, especially, the youth, to be law-abiding and to go about their various businesses without taking laws into their hands.

Abiodun restated that no one is above the law, noting that “after detailed proper investigations into the killing of the late football star, decisive action shall be taken against anyone found culpable, as they face the full wrath of the law.”
