Supreme Court Gives Reasons For Dismissing Ihedioha’s Application For Review by bayomillz14: 4:31pm On Mar 03, 2020
The Supreme Court on Tuesday dismissed the application filed by Emeka Ihedioha to review the judgement on the Imo State Governorship election.

TheNewsGuru.com (TNG) reports Justice Olukayode Ariwoola, who delivered the lead judgement said there is no constitutional provision for the apex court to sit on appeal over its own judgement.

He ruled that the court does not have the competence to review it’s own judgement, stressing that the finality of the Supreme Court is entrenched in the Constitution, so that the inherent powers of the court does not allow it to review or set aside it’s own judgment.

Ihedioha asked the Supreme Court to set aside the judgment removing him as Governor of Imo State, instead of a review.

However, the apex court upheld it’s verdict, affirming Hope Uzodinma of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as Governor.

Justice Ariwoola said the application of Ihedioha, candidate of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) was lacking in merit.

The Supreme Court has asserted again that it is not final because it is infallible, but infallible only because it is final. May our destiny never depend on Nigeria's supreme court decision!
