See why Senator Abaribe wanted a breakdown of how the entire loan would be spent! Can anyone in all honesty say this rubbish is fair to the south-east? Besides a $50 million vocational training centre that touches all regions of the country, and one or two general/national spendings, the south-east gets nothing else! But look at other regions, and see how they compare: in some instances, specific/stand-alone projects worth multi-millions of dollars are targeted for specific states! States like Kaduna, Taraba, Kogi as well as regions like south-west/north-west and south-south (east-west road and railway) were specifically mentioned!

Can neutrals now see why Igbos are fed up with this divisive, vindictive and bigoted Buhari gov't? Let no efulefu Igbo bastard in APC come and tell me Igbos are faring better under this evil regime and we should roll out the drums in celebration!
The Lagos calabar rail project will go through all the South East states capitals!!

The reason Nigeria is like this , its because they neglected the only region that has the ability to turn things around in this country, as long as this region is neglected Nigeria will never amount to anything

The said region should learn to accommodate others too. Look at what hate is doing to your zone. You have already chosen to hate the rest of the country but you now want fair share of what your perceived "enemies" enjoy?

And the loans should a way be for them
I only gave u a twist of the flaw in that notion

its not reasonable to borrow to fund education and health as this are not revenue generating sector of the economy
please health care is among the revenue generating sector in this country and as for education apart from 'primary and secondary' the others are bringing in enough revenue

The East West road is actually just Warri to Ikot Abasi (Eket Junction), and the truth is that current work done cant be much more than 50%.... $800m though is weird. N100bn sgould compleye the job.

Are you sure about that? i did think that East West road was all the way to Shagamu Interchange!

https://www.thisdaylive.com/index.php/2019/04/09/fg-approves-n100bn-for-completion-of-east-west-road/

https://constructionreviewonline.com/2018/05/nigeria-approves-reconstruction-of-east-west-road/

From my online search, it seems that we are both a bit right and wrong, as it appears East West road is officially Oron to Warri. There is also supposed to be a section 5 from Oron to Calabar, but how it would cross the large water way beyond Oron to Calabar I don't quite know.

Though that buttresses our point as to what exactly $800mln will be used for. Eket junction to port Harcourt is spotless last I drove on it around 2016. port harcourt to before yenegoa has portions that were done and ok and a few portions remaining and from before yenegoa to Ughelli on to Warri was spotless as at then too. So what work are they doing?

The way the ordinary Nigerian is experiencing hardship, you think he is sacrificing so life will be better tomorrow.

But that's not the case it's hardship for nothing.

You borrow from westerners, you pay their companies the money to build infrastructure for you, so people will know you are working, meanwhile the money you borrowed is gone, interest is sitting there waiting for you. Most of the project fit abandon n cast.

Where is the value created?

Teach Nigerians to build and maintain road, bridges, to produce food, to install, maintain and expand power supply. These are the activities every country will be engaged in till eternity. Contract here contract there, juicy contracts, audio contract, feasibility study, panels, subcommittees, etc

Na people, humans na him dey develop him environment no be money dey develop environment.

See all the mansions build in Lagos and Abuja all empty and dusty.

What do Nigerians want? When are we? Where are we going to?

Madam pass me one plate of fresh fish pepper soup and one bottle of whiskey make I take reason this matter.

22 billion dollars, in Aisha's voice...Bubu we need to talk.

Accommodate who? If we can compete with people in thier region business wise and dominate them , and they on the other hand are scared of coming to compete with us in our own region, means we are not accommodative ? No region is smart enough to come do business in the east

We belong to this unitary government , we pay taxes and generate revenue for the federal government , we have two oil producing states that contributes to this country , so if a loan is collected on behalf of this country why cut us off? We have what it takes to develop our region if we are not forced to pay taxes to federal government , why not allow us have a government of our own if central doesn't include us equally?

cool

$5bn USD for power out of almost $30bn is low, fvcking too low

Without any doubt I know this would jump start our economy with contractors getting paid and more construction workers getting hired, I also trust Chinese EXIM bank wouldn't give politician a kobo of their own $17bn , they would pay contractors directly after completion of each phase of implementation

with Osinbajo handling the MSME's almost $500 million I know for a matter of fact more graduate with bankable business plan would get startup funds, instead of going to any MSME clinic around them or CBN office on how to access the scheme they would rather wail and wail

Politics is about participation
That's true

People who refused to vote because of Kanu did not take the wise decision either

But if you are implying that because the SE did not vote Buhari that they should get no project

That's silly and dumb.

The president is in charge of the whole country

If we get no projects
Then they should not take our tax revenues either

You even have to waste ur precious time to educate that slowpoke Called So MuMu..

Why must every thread on this forum and every discussion in Nigeria always degenerate to tasteless inter tribal war? Why must people always drag their foolishness everywhere? What's wrong with Yorubas and Igbos?

It is beyond Yorubas and Igbos... This is about unintelligent and moronic so called youths, who had the misfortune of getting access to internet-enabled cell phones.

Hear me well sir, no intelligent young man or woman with a good upbringing, fending for himself while going forward in life, ever stoops to the despicable level of tribalism and bigotry!!!

Where there is even the tiniest modicum of intelligence, there can be no room for such silliness.

When just 500mUSD is spent on education then how does the country grow? The driving force of any country is the educational sector, if this sector is properly cared for all others will fall in place naturally.

Actually the region neglected has to rise up to the challenges facing it. It's not a must we depend on central government for development. No not at all.

If you understand global financing $27 billion dollars is a chicken change for a country as big as Nigeria to overhaul her dilapidated, and broke down infrastructures
In addition majority of the money is not even channeled to critical things needed to jump start Nigerian economy.

Pulling money for infrastructural investments is not that difficult in our present global financial world.
And the East is a good return on investment region more than others.

I just feel it is lack of knowledge especially on the side of our elites in the East.
For example place South East on the scale of rating agencies such as standards and poor, moody or Fitch and you will see they will get a better rating for investments more than other regions.

Like I said Nigeria is not even our problem, because with all things going for Nigeria and almost 60 years after independence, she is still groping in economic stagnancy.

The time has come for smart, intelligent, visionary and futuristic leaders to arise from the region and give sound leadership direction to the East. That's the only solution.
We have more than the capacity to do that.

My question is do we even need patronage from the center to get these things done?

Actually we don't need. If the leadership in the East are purposeful. Development of our region can be done.

That is the question sir!!! That is a very big and monumental "IF"!

Sadly, there is no good leadership to begin with, not to speak of "purposeful"! We are truly our own enemies!!!
