So in summary her greatest achievement is YOUWIN?

Her greatest achievements were

1. Facilitating debt relief that gave us any little chance of economic progress after the end of a long traumatising military dictatorships.
2. Returning Nigeria as the best economy in Africa with real growth not the present default position we are celebrating.
3.Established the Sovereign wealth fund which Amaechi and Co tried to sabotage.
4. Of course YOUWIN, truncated by Buhari which would have grown large enough to reduce unemployment in Nigeria.

The list is endless oga. Quit partisanship and appreciate a unique talent. Peace

She left Nigeria with $63 billion debt and less than $28 billion in foreign reserves, according to her she was doing what IMF advised. She destroyed all her good work under OBJ government when for whatever reason she became the GEJ default deputy president with two portfolios in finance and economic planning with no development strategy beyond sharing oil money between the states and federal government.

NB: Before you start raining PDP and APC tribal insults on my fragile head, Iweala was much better the accountant Kemi Adeosun or the confused and limited Zainab Shamsuna Ahmed, but what does that say about Nigeria democracy despite earning more than $700bn over the past 15 years with $110 billion debt.
There was no good work under Obasanjo who is on record as saying she needed to work under supervision

Any credit for that period belongs to Obasanjo
Her first budget in 2012 was tainted with the oil subsidy scandal

Subjective reasoning. Her competence drives you crazy that I could see. Oil prices started falling since 2014 but she held the economy together, because she was an expert. She never denied investors and manufacturers the needed foreign exchange to boost the non oil sector which is the only cushion to the dwindling oil revenues.

She wisely did not create a panic in the financial market in order not to scare off investors. That was her role as the minister.

Her YOUWIN programme was modelled after German small scale industrial growth. She identified cottage industries as the only remedy to our shortcomings in manufacturing sectors. You train 100 people, 100 train 1000, 1000 train 1,000,000 etc. Today all around me I see the ripple effect of that programme everyday. Unemployed women who now manufacture Liquid soap, disinfectants, chocolate beverages, handcrafted hats and fascinators, bags, shoes, etc.

Cottage industries running in homes!!

Buhari had only one job; to sustain this economic model and block any loophole occasion by corruption. Instead he threw it out of the window and replaced it with a socialist Npower that only grant temporary relief but is economically non sustainable in the long run.

Her competence failed when Nigeria earned more oil money than any finance minister in the history of Nigeria and still could not diversify our economy, she was still borrowing hundreds of billions every month to pay worker's salary, she still declared austerity measure in 2014 when oil was selling for as high as $77 per barrel.

The useless woman's competence made her to colude with Jonathan to steal $2.3 billion Abacha loot to share with their cronies, that money was enough to build 2 Lagos Ibadan railways.

The useless woman left a battared economy that she couldn't pay worker's salary without borrowing billions every month.

Obviously, you are too incompetent to know the meaning of competence.

She did not facilitate debt relief that was a European initiative with support from the likes of Obasanjo.
After this was agreed her job was to negotiate terms.

She OVERPAID Billions.
Have you not heard Paris Club Refund which is what made Ned Nwoko rich?
Nigeria got the worst deal in Africa and she could not even manage the accounts overpaying several billion dollars which was discovered after she left office.

The Sovereign Fund was rightly opposed because it was unconstitutional

Truth is she was a failure

The governors headed by Oshiomhole took her to court , they wanted to “share” the money , and they won the case against her wish and kept sharing the money.

She is a big advocate of saving the excess crude funds and diversification of resources .
Her key word was Let is invest and save , but they refused .

She still struggled and got the “Sovereign Wealth funds” for future generations. She made sure she established that with 1 billion dollars .

“ You win “ was also a big one from her
Lame the FG share was 54% why did she spend it? The governors were entitled to their share of the Excess Crude Account constitutionally

The FG share should not have been spent without supplementary budgets but she went ahead to spend it and turned round to blame governors.

The Sovereign Wealth Fund was unlawful. Also it made no sense to do that whilst borrowing.

Why did petrol subsidy treble within 6 months of taking office in 2011. How sensible is it to talk of a wealth fund when you are borrowing to subsidise petrol?

Name one

Just one achievement

When she was finance minister

ONE

We did not get debt cancellation. Do not lie.
We got FORGIVENESS And paid back billions.
Several African countries did get cancellation at the time when Tony Blair and other European governments were guilt tripped into debt cancellation.
Why didn't we get cancellation.?incompetent and unpatriotic negotiation

HER BEHAVIOUR AS FINANCE MINISTER WAS WITH AN EYE TO HER CAREER WHEN THAT JOB ENDED. SHE ACTED IN THE INTERESTS OF THE WEST
The truth is this was not her initiative AT ALL.
If any one should have got credit it was Obasanjo.
Her job as Finance minister was to negotiate. Even at that she failed.

Nigeria was the only African country that had any cash and the Western powers exacted a heavy price.
Many of the loans were fraudulent and more experienced negotiators could have and should have played hardball.
She just rolled over and handed over $20 billion in one day. Charles Soludo did a good piece on that. Search for it.

In the most basic function of that task she FAILED. She OVERPAID more than what was even agreed.

State governments are still getting refunds till today because of her incompetence. They had to engage Consultants like Ned Nwoko at great expense to recover these monies.

Baba God bless you. we know why "those people" are hailing her but she is nothing than an over hyped desk officer. your comments was well summarized with a good sense of history. those who hate the truth think we hate her but her performance was rather piss poor. In addition, Obasanjo demoted her as finance minister when he became aware of her underhand dealings in the debt relief consultation.

Everything she did in office was with an eye on her future international profile and personal interest.
Compared to the likes of Soludo or Ezekwesili her understanding of the Nigerian economy was disgraceful

The main issue was and remains youth unemployment

What did she do about it

What nonsense is this one saying. So you actually believe you have made sense.
