Rejection is an awful feeling that it usually breeds contempt towards the person or reason why we were rejected but we must overcome unless we end like Cain who couldn't handling rejection.

But unto Cain and to his offering He had not respect. And Cain was very wroth, and his countenance fell.

And the LORD said unto Cain, Why art thou wroth? and why is thy countenance fallen?

If thou doest well, shalt thou not be accepted? and if thou doest not well, sin lieth at the door. And unto thee shall be his desire, and thou shalt rule over him.

And Cain talked with Abel his brother: and it came to pass, when they were in the field, that Cain rose up against Abel his brother, and slew him.
Genesis 4:5-8

As children of God we will face opposition and rejection from several people for several reasons and for those who spread the word of God you must learn to rejoice in the Lord in the midst of the persecution (instead of being downcast) and forgive those who persecute us. (Matthew 5:11-12;44)

In Luke 9:51-56 the Lord Jesus then faced rejection but he forgave and didn't call down fire on the Samaritan city. Same with in Luke 8:37, let's learn from Jesus how to face and overcome rejection.

In Luke 10:10 Jesus says if we are rejected we should go away and not use force, manipulation or out of offense abuse them and yes there are times we should persist but that is usually when we are being ignored like in Luke 18:1-8.
I wonder what would have happened if Cain took the Lord's rejection in good faith like in Matthew 15:26-28 where Jesus inferred to a woman as a dog but she refused to get offended.

# Rejection works subtly to destroy your self-esteem and your purpose.
# Rejection causes you to feel sorry for yourself.
# Rejection spurs you to reject other people before they have an opportunity to reject you.
# Rejection leads you to base your worth on what you do instead of who you are in Christ.

There will be times, of course, that you deal with true rejection, but there is also imagined rejection. Indeed, rejections often works through imaginations: Hurtful encounters, for instance, can open the door for a demon of rejection to whisper to you and torment you. That spirit can twist your perception of circumstances so that it looks and feels as though you are being rejected even when you are not. In the natural, it is called a misunderstanding. But if you fail to cast down the imaginations that ride on the back of misunderstandings, the spirit of rejection will work to form a stronghold in your mind. It will control your thought patterns and make it easy for this demon to hold you in bondage.

Ephesians 1:6b he hath made us accepted in the beloved.

Whether real or perceived, rejection does not just give up. If it cannot turn you into a self-pity totting performer, rejection will puff you up with pride to compensate for your insecurities, or lead you to shield yourself with pat answers and isolate yourself to guard yourself from more rejection.

When rejection comes whispering to your soul, telling you that no one cares or that something is wrong with you, you are not “this” enough,
“that” enough or “something else” enough, reject that thought in the name of Jesus.

Rejection is inevitable. Even Almighty God suffered rejection when Lucifer betrayed HIM and planned a failed coup to overthrow HIM.

You’re blessed when your commitment to God provokes persecution. The
persecution drives you even deeper into God’s kingdom. Not only that—count
yourselves blessed every time people put you down or throw you out or speak
lies about you to discredit me. What it means is that the truth is too close for
comfort and they are uncomfortable. You can be glad when that happens—give
a cheer, even!—for though they don’t like it, I do! And all heaven applauds. And know that you are in good company. My prophets and witnesses have always gotten into this kind of trouble.
