The new ranking system we were taught at induction seem a bit different from u stated here, on bolded words, i mean from inspectorate cadre.

We were taught that inspectorate cadre now has only two after which the officers can be promoted to supretendent cadre

Below is the Rank system they taught us at induction (from inspectorate)

Asst Inspector(AII) level 06
Inspector of immigration (II) level 07
ASI 2 level 08
ASI 1 level 09
DSI level 10
SI level 11
CSI level 12
ACI level 13
DCI level 14
CIS level 15

They didn't mention anything like

Inspector 11
Inspector 1

SuppoOmoo:
Yeah, those who were Inspectors formerly and got the recently released 2020 promotion were promoted to Inspector I. They were expecting ASI/ASC II but the Service gave them Inspector I. They cannot use one star and the department has not yet designed their beffiting rank so they were asked to continue using their Inspector rank which is three iron bars. But the last month salary shows they have been placed on GL 08. i.e from 07 to 08. They have started enjoying the new salary now.

NOTE: One level forward salary structure as proposed has not been implemented yet. Only those who got promoted were placed on thier new grade levels accordingly.

So, from Inspectorate cadre, the arrangement is now like this

Assistant Inspector
Inspector II
Inspector I
Assistant Superintendent II
Assistant Superintendent I
Deputy Superintendent
Superintendent
.

.
.

Where the problem still lies now is Senior and Chief Assistant Ranks for those that joined from Assistant Cadre. We expect those two ranks too will be abolished to that the those who joined through Assistant Cadre too can rise quickly in the job. Alternative way for them is by Upgrading/Conversation if they get thier degrees while in Service and it is not automatic. You ll have to meet people to get upgrading

For them, they move like this
Assistant III (lowest rank)
Assistant II
Assistant I
Senior Assistant
Chief Assistant.

The chief Assistant will automatically transit to Inspector II after attending CPA course. He will only bypass Assistant Inspector (level 06) because he's already on level 07 as a Chief Assistant.

Inspector II is the one on (level 7), while inspector 1 (also on level 8 ) is given to those whose educational qualifications will not allow for promotion to ASI II or has failed the promotion course to ASI II and they will have to given this rank for seniority sake, some might retire with Inspector 1/senior inspector (level 8 ).

The difference btw
ASI II (level 8 )
Inspector I ( level 8 )

The person on inspector 1 will still give you the full complement as an officer even been on same level but rank hierarchy comes to play here,

Secondly you’ll be regarded as a commissioned officer while the inspector 1 will not.

I will quickly make my contribution from the information I have acquired over time:

1. First there is nothing like a list being released whether for slot or replacement. The process is an online process, you log in and check your application page online. Those with connection might get calls to come for documentation, that i don't really know about. Just know nobody is releasing any list.

2. Many candidate under slot were already shortlisted and commenced documentation from the very first day the documentation started in Abuja. Both slot/connection and merit candidates did documentation at the same time in Abuja from the beginning.

3. Induction training for each state commenced last month. Since the beginning of the induction more candidates under slot too and replacement were further shortlisted and joined in the course of the induction training. I believe more will still come even untill training school, depending on the level of the connection you have.
If you are expecting one big list to be published for slot or replacement, that will not happen.
So if you have a connect you are hoping on or you have paid for either slot or replacement just continue to pray and push for your name to be shortlisted, but the chances keep decreasing by the day. Just get something doing just incase it doesn't work out for you.
Also know fake appointment letter are all over the place and gullible people are easily victimize, be very wise.

4. Issue of Salary: from the information gotten from the last set who were recruited in 2018, they started receiving salary after their 3 months induction, they just entered training school when the salary arrears dropped in their account. Afterwards the salary started coming on a monthly basis. So it may probably be the same way for this new set of recruit.

The amount stated on your appointment letter is your basic salary, although about 4k plus or minus will be added to it when you are being paid.

Good luck to everyone

Mehn, this life no balance especially if your connection no reach 5g. Many intelligent folks (graduates and MSC holders) struggled to get even ordinary IA III, but a guy seated beside me during our documentation told me he was just chilling with his guys in a bar when his uncle called him to go to Abj for documentation. He himself never had any idea of ever registering for NIS. He logged unto the website and saw his name and rank as an AS II.
Another arrogant girl who doesn't like to participate in any thing and complains at any given chance, even came as an AS II. Smh

Please who has a clear idea of how this rank promotion thing goes.... Does promotion starts counting from the day of APL or from the day of confirmation(after two years from APL date)..... For instance, one who got enlisted wit IA III, will he be promoted to IA II after two years(two years from APL date).. or will he be promoted after two years of comfirmation(four years later after APL date)?
Re: Nigeria Immigration Service 2020 Recruitment by Thanks2God: 8:47pm On Oct 23, 2021
It's starts counting from date of your appointment letters. After confirmation exam, you will be eligible for next promotion exam of that year if you have completed minimum duration on the rank from date of appointment. Level 03 to 06 is minimum of 2years. Level 07 to 15 minimum of 3years.

For example, all ASI 2 recruited 2018 has been shortlisted for year 2021 promotion exam coming up November. Because this year makes it 3years they join the service. U know, promotion for seniors officers minimum of 3years

For junior officers, sometimes they use the confirmation exam to serve as both confirmation/promotion exam. If you passed, u got confirmed and promoted at the same time.

A times you need to try your luck(using your highest qualification) this is my first time of applying for NIS recruitment and I got it without any connection apart from God. And the rank is ASI 2.

This is something that takes place once in every 3 years, and not annually like Jamb or Waec that you can just try again. I was thinking of leaving and trying again but time is not on my side.

My point is, I just couldn't risk it because, who are we kidding, this is Naija and uncertainty is certain. I'm sure you know what I mean. I know someone who has tried to apply in every paramilitary org in Nigeria but didn't make the cut until he used his SSCE and it clicked one time. I mean, what's the probability of me getting it then....1 in 10, 1 in 100 or 1 in 1000. Getting jobs on merit in this part of the world is a mirage.

Congratulations on your first achievement in the uniform life. I truly envy you and and same time wish same for me soonest.
