I Saw A Warm Moving Around In My Eyeball, Is This Normal? (photo) by Ayokequeen(m): 2:56pm On Mar 16, 2020
Sometimes last year I was having a serious itching in my eyes which also affected my throat. I went for a medical check up and the doctor examined my eyes and confirmed that my eyes were okay but the itching was just as a result of a reaction to something around me which would go after I take some medication.
Just yesterday I was noticing a movement in my eye as if something wanted to jump out of it. As I was looking into the mirror today I just saw a tiny warm moving around in my eyeball, I was so scared because I've never seen this before and there was no way I could remove it because it was under the iris. I've heard about eye-warm (aràn ojú) from people discussing it locally before but I thought it was just Yoruba's way of describing a movement in the eye.
Please is this normal and save and how do I deal with it? Thanks.

You have been bitten by a fly that is host to the FILARIA worm, and that is what you are seeing traveling across your eye ball.

Now for the good news. You SHOULD be able to kill that worm, by dosing yourself with FOUR tiny tablets of IVERMEKTIN, a powerful treatment for ALL forms of parasites that infest the skin, the digestive tract, or the internal organs.

For a short while, the worm or worms will itch you MORE when the tablets start to work in your system, but they will die and fragment over a couple of days, before being reabsorbed as internal garbage, by your lymphatic system.

IVERMEKTIN must NOT be taken more than ONCE per month, and in the unlikely event that the Filaria worm survives your chemical warfare attack, see your doctor for more powerful medications that WILL work.

The FILARIA worm can look very similar to the normal blood vessels of the eye, but since the OP was able to look in the mirror and see the worm actually moving across his eyeball, there is no question that what he is seeing is in fact a parasite known as the FILARIA worm, treatable by taking four IVERMEKTIN tablets, as detailed by me above.

Thanks so much, I think I'll go for the drug you prescribed because I've been diagnosed of having micro filaria worm before but it's been long and I can't remember the drug that was prescribed to me then.

Ok.... what happened is that you might have been bitten by a particular fly( can't remember the name) found in rivers and mango trees.... if you are bitten, the fly usually deposits some "eggs " which later start to develop.....that is the reasons for the swellings on your body....
Go to the nearest pharmacy and ask for "DEC" which is di-ethyl-carbamazine.... it usually has 100 tablets and you take 8 - 10 daily.... it's not expensive...maybe 500naira..... once you start taking it ...the worm will die and the swellings will stop.... I'll advice you to take it for 2weeks and all will be fine....that was how I treated mine...

My pleasure. I have experienced this worm on several occasions, and it is not a pleasant feeling to have a living creature moving about under one's skin. By far the most dangerous forms of life in the forest or near rivers in West Africa, are the various insect species whose bite can transmit some truly nasty parasites, including filaria.

If, after four days since the time you used the 4 tablets of Ivermektin, you can still sense the presence of worms itching your skin anywhere, visit a doctor to request more powerful tablets.

It will be better to see a doctor because of that worm moving in the eye so it can be extracted out, because if it dies there, it can cause terrible inflammatory response in that eye that can lead to vision loss.

Going from the history you gave, I suspect you are suffering from filiariasis caused by either Loa loa ( vector = Mango fly >{tabanids}) or Wuchereria Bancroft ( vector = mosquitoes). Loa loa can lead most especially to the swellings (angioedema) you are observing in various parts of your body. Those who suggested you take DEC or Ivermectin ( maybe albendazole) are on the right track but you really need to see a medical doctor for proper diagnosis and follow up. Cheers!

Probably, it is Loa Loa larvae migrating to the eye.

Though, Jakumo has given a tip to treatment I would advice your not to ever try treating it yourself. You will be placing yourself at a serious risk of Mazotti reaction, which can be deadly with Ivermectin.

Don't ever use Ivermectin without a doctor's knowledge.

See your doctor for proper treatment.

I second this recommendation, and I wasn't aware that Ivermektin could be hazardous to some.

The worm must NEVER be "extracted" from any part of the body, ESPECIALLY THE EYE. It can only be killed with medication.

Did you swim In a river recently?
Did you eat raw fish or meat? (Or undercooked)?

Are you sure about that sir? In addition to use of medication, Surgical extraction from the eye may also be indicated. I will advise the op to visit a doctor in the hospital for proper consultation and not to self medicate.

Well I stand corrected. With my layman's level of medical procedure, I truly had no idea that those worms can in fact be removed surgically from the surface of the eye.

I will now demand a full refund from the Babalawo juju man that taught me medicine, because I have now been exposed as a quack, trial-and-error medical practitioner, which has in turn ruined by chances of being elected as the Baale of Nairaland's health section.

This is a serious development, and my customers must not hear that I was trained LOCALLY, in my village, over a period of just 3 months.

Lool, your self-reprimanding nature is quite amusing. Your contributions were enlightening anyway.
