Lingo Africa, the foremost human capital development platform in Abuja, Nigeria, understands that the coronavirus disease will affect businesses just as much as it affects health and not in a good way, so, to support business owners across the country, we have shared our business continuity plan that can easily be adopted by a Nigerian business, so, that business owners can use to ensure that they keep their businesses afloat.

First off, a business continuity plan outlines procedures and instructions a business must follow in the face of a disaster or disease outbreak like the coronavirus disease. The business continuity plan covers business processes, assets, human resources, business partners and other considerations for the sake of survival.

In order to see the usefulness of a business continuity plan, it is advisable that as a business owner, you consider the fact that after the coronavirus disease spread, your business future will depend on the people and processes you have and to continue to build your brand positively, you must commit to bouncing back after the disease has been tackled.

So, Lingo Africa has prepared a free sample to help you piece your business continuity plan together;

SAMPLE

Purpose of the Lingo Africa Business Continuity Plan

The Lingo Africa business continuity plan consists of the business functions that are prioritized as a result of the coronavirus disease spread. We understand that for our facilitators and clients to remain unaffected by the coronavirus, we need to have an alternate business continuity platform. Social Distancing cannot be effectively practiced while we continue our work the usual way and we cannot afford to put our work staff and clients at risk.

Operational Area

Due to the fact that we are a human capital development platform and our work revolves around interactive sessions, we will now migrate online and interact with clients using Zoom and Skype.

Description of Operations

Going forward, when a client requests a session through phone calls, contact forms and emails, Lingo Africa, will schedule a time for one of our facilitators and the client to have a meet-up online. We will have zero human to human contact so as to reduce risks of coronavirus disease.

Our sessions will now take place fully over Zoom and Skype video platforms. Our facilitators will be working from home, while the office remains closed. We understand that home life could clash with work-life while working from home, especially for our facilitators who are parents. So, we will get suitable work periods from our facilitators based on their home experience and apply that to their online work schedule, so, the new requirements work out well for everyone.

Impact Description

As a Nigerian business that is into learning and human capital development, we understand that the less human to human contact our facilitators and clients, the more likely, everyone will bounce back from this pandemic better and stronger. However, we also know that if we ignore or downplay the effect of the coronavirus disease, we will be putting human lives at risk – a situation we would rather avoid. This is why it is quite important to implement the virtual side of our business operations.

For the delivery of our products, Lingo Africa will keep on a few staff members who will make live deliveries to clients. During deliveries, our staff members will be required to wear protective gear (face masks, hand gloves). They will only be required to drop off products using only a taxi, so as to maintain a good distance between themselves and the taxi driver, they will also keep a safe distance between them and the client, to ensure the safety of everyone.

Recovery Strategy

Lingo Africa will, at the end of the coronavirus disease pandemic, will first off, recommend all work staff for a psych evaluation to try to understand how the pandemic affected them and help them recover from the effects of the pandemic.

Lingo Africa will ensure that all work staff will be given their preferred style of discharging their duties. We are aware that the pandemic will forever change the style of work – some will prefer to work from wherever they are, while others will want to resume the office style of work. Lingo Africa will make adjustments to accommodate these changes.

Our work staff will ensure that our clientele receives better human to human pieces of training and workshops. Lingo Africa will ensure that personal hygiene remains a part of the training process, to protect all those who will be involved in all of our training sessions. Lingo Africa will also embark on campaigns to build its client base.
