seunmsg:I know all that. No country can shut its borders against their citizens, I concur. But in the west, as those citizens are arriving, they ask them to go in isolation with close monitoring especially if they're from the region experiencing the crises and at least, I know of italy and South Korea. The Nigerian government isn't ready for this but if it's to renovate the national assembly complex with billions of naira overnight, they'd get it done. Have you been to the yaba isolation centre? It cannot contain 50 patients at a go and lagos population with all Nigerian tribes represented and foreign nationals is over 19 million. Normally as they arrive, whether they show symptoms or not, they should be moved to an isolation facility created by the government for a minimum of 14 days and also tell others over there who are planning to come to remain and observe things... each time I watch foreign news and I see how prepared they are and compare same with what's obtainable locally, I sigh in fears. So far, with the new cases recorded today, the number has soared to a min of 12 and that's like 60 hidden cases more...that is, 5 times more. Because those tested positive might have gone to churches, mosques, major malls, visited family members, friends, inlaws, hugged husbands , wives, children, etc and there's no way all those they have been in contact with wouldn't have also contracted the monster virus. Last week, the health minister placed 2 names on a wanted list in the media that, they were looking for them because they came from the hard-hit regions...imagine, the people showed up 24-48 hours after they've been looking for them. Had they been led to an isolation facility as they arrived at the airport, there wouldn't have been any such stress. As we're giants of Africa on paper, we should also show it physically. It doesn't cost much to build a make-shift isolation centre if the government was really serious. I'd always remember Fashola for his role in the Ebola crises containment, the health minister of that time and the then government. Human life should come before any other thing ( economy, wealth, etc) 2 Likes |

We have only 5 labs capable of testing for Corona Virus in Nigeria. Of the 5, 4 are in Southwest and 1 in Abuja. The governments in SW needs to take drastic actions to stop Corona from spreading out of the SW. That should be the major aim now. Shut down everything in the SW - Churches, parties, events, mosques, schools. Otherwise........ |

ThierryJay:People that are carriers and are asymptomatic, pose even greater danger. Because they can just as easily, spread the virus...perhaps unknowningly. Transparency in disclosure of infection status by these category of victims eases things a bit. But who is willing to put their reputation on the line, for the sake of transparency and public safety? You know how people stigmatize others for many things in this part of the world. Secondly, folding our arms to rest our hopes on the strength of our immune system is neither pragmatic nor common sensical(if there's a word like that). The younger population (neonates and toddlers) whose immune system isn't quite sophisticated enough to deal with such kind of viruses are prone to suffer from this kind and die from it! |

Sunnycliff: We didnt tame Ebola. We were just lucky that some people sacrificed thier lives for the good of us all. Doctors where on strike when Sawyer was rushed to that hospital if not he would have landed in a government hospital first. The protocol of opening card alone will have devastated the country. 2 Likes 1 Share |

the biggest threat right now is out there which is immigration between land borders cos that one , there is no records, there is little to no adequate information to be conveyed on time . the US national who came in through land border is our biggest threat right now cos by now who ever he had contact with is probably in one village celebrating his return trip. |

Why are you guys magnify this virus as if it is dead sentence. Nigerians I know are going out for their normal businesses without any mask to cover thier nose, and bet me this Covid 19 will die a natural death within few weeks. Do not be surprise that many Nigerians have already passed through this sickness and recovered without knowing what hit them seunlayi: 2 Likes |

Imagine, those immigration and airport staffs that are collecting peanuts at the airport from travellers. They will even do handshake and collect the coronavirus before begging for one thousand naira. This country called Nigeria is just a joke. Where all our politicians are just talking but no action to backup. The cases of coronavirus is increasing everyday in the country, meanwhile the government is busy boasting we are doing everything. God should help us kill all these politicians before we all doom. |

Sadteen: The sickness will disappear the way it came, Amen. Your talk is so baseless. The Government directed people to take precautionary measures. Hence, the Church complied. Our God is a healer. You should rather watch your mouth & make peace with your Creator. #AFoolsaysthereIsNoGod 1 Like |

It is eeally sad how all this while the government did not do enough to check immigrants. Nigeria have no reasonable reasons to explain how this has come to stay. We had all the time in the world to make proper preparation. seunlayi: |

No need for panic, the virus doesn't survive a temperature above 28degrees Celsius and the temperature down here in Nigeria is far above that. So there's nothing to fear, just keep maintaining proper hygienic measures. It is going to be well. |
