Pathetic... why is there not even any serious Nigeria forum not in English?
National language of Nigeria should be Igbo as the most important language of business and literature.

Because our fore father's were not this enlightened and were easily brainwashed.

Same goes for religion, they have them the books and they believed in it.

Africa needs to return to her roots. We were much stronger and disciplined with what we had.

China Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar and India are examplenary examples. Their roots they never forgot.

We dumped ours and accepted that of a foreigner.

Bane of our problems.

There are over 2000 languages on the African continent, 350 in Nigeria alone. Each with their own distinctive vocabulary. And the minute we Nigerians decide to use an 'indigenous' language, each and everyone of them will behave like OP and say that his or her language should be used as the National Language.

And each and every tribe in this country will resist the 'imposition' of one language over the other.

OP, even you is saying that Ibo should be our national language, meanwhile, I know Hausas and Yorubas who say their language should be the national language. And we haven't talked about the minority tribes...what happens to them?

For now, let's manage English. And using English is not why we are underdeveloped. We are underdeveloped because we think the world owes us a living. It don't. We should dump oil, and become an industrial nation.

How does language and enlightenment relate?..

They were not enlightened enough to appreciate and preserve what they have.

Can Chinese tell Nigerians in present day that their language is superior than ours? Or tell us Hindu is the way? No! Because we can see now.

Just ignoring the biggest imposition of all! Nigeria will forever stay a backward country until it's own indigenous language and ways of thinking are promoted in government and writing.. can you even say 'imposition' in Hausa? Look at the progress Ethiopia has made in the past decade relative to the region.

Ethiopia isn't a good example. There are at least several other languages apart from the main language Amhara which is the main language because many other tribes were conquered by the Amhara to form the nation of Ethiopia over the centuries. (Like the British)

Ethiopia is also severely underdeveloped..They even rely on hefty loans from China more than we do.

For now let's manage English. It is sad , but the alternative is anarchy

Do you need sponsorship to go back to school? It seems the initial school you attended was for literacy not to be educated or is it tribalism that has made you very ignorant?
