Lawmakers at the Imo State House of Assembly have elected Hon.Amarachi Iwuanyanwu, the member representing Nwangele State Constituency as their new Deputy Speaker.

His emergence on Tuesday followed an earlier mock election held Monday night in one of the hotels in Owerri, the state capital where he reportedly defeated his colleagues Athur Egwim and Ngozi Obiefule.

Bittertruth Media recalls that the election of the new Deputy Speaker came two months after the immediate past deputy speaker, Okey Onyekanma resigned on January on 21.

The Clerk of the House, Chinelo Emeghara, administered the oath of oath of office and allegiance on the Deputy Speaker after he had been nominated unopposed by Ngozi Obiefule( Isu) and seconded by Johnson Duru ( Ideato South).

Also, the Speaker announced popular comedian, Uche Ogbuagu(Ikeduru) as the new Majority Leader; Emeka Nduka( Ehime Mbano) as the new Deputy Majority Leader, Authur Eguim ( Ideato North) as the new Chief Whip and Eddy Obinna( Aboh Mbaise) as the new  Deputy Chief Whip.

The shakeup in the leadership of the house follows the declaration of APC's Senator Hope Uzodinma as the new governor of Imo State, sacking Emeka Ihedioha of the PDP.
