As at the time of writing this guide, coronavirus now has 44 confirmed cases in Nigeria. So many states have passed directives on closure of markets, schools, church gatherings etc
.
.
I have deemed it necessary to share my checklist of foodstuffs, utilities and other items you need to stock up your home with, to enable you have a good stay at home until this Pandemic blows over.

.
.
With this checklist successfully executed, you won't have the need to make frequent trips outside which increases your risk of exposure to the covid-19 virus.

You need to prepare by arranging for these-
.
.
1.Cash to keep at home

2.Fill your cooking gas or buy kerosene for stove. If you can,buy an extra cylinder of gas, fill it and keep as spare.

3.Pay your Nepa bill or buy extra Prepaid meter units. This is the worst time to be without light, boredom will finish you!

4.Buy fuel in your car and also buy in at least 20 litres gallon for your generator.

5.Buy enough bottles of drinking water or get a new drum to store enough drinking water.

6.Get a rechargeable lamp to use in case of blackout.

7.Buy vitamin C tablets or multivitamin capsules to take daily to help with boosting your immunity.

8.Buy enough of your medication for pre existing medical conditions (if any) eg asthma, diabetes etc.

For general household use,buy drugs like-
Anti diarrhoea drugs,Panadol or paracetamol for pains, Cold,Flu or cattarh drugs , Methylated spirit, cotton wool, Children’s cough syrup, paracetamol and vit c ,Hot Robb/massage ointment,Cotton wool.

.
.
9. Buy foodstuffs-

Rice,Beans,Yam,potatoes,Garri or whichever swallow you eat,Onoins, Fresh tomatoes, Fresh pepper, Dry cameroon pepper,Dry fish or meat,Spagetti, crayfish, Tomato paste (i recommend tasty tom or gino jollof mix so you can use it to make stews or jollof whenever you run out of fresh tomatoes, pepper and onoins),palm oil, vegetable oil,Ogbono, egusi (melon),dry bitterleaf, stockfish.

.
.
Also get some cooking spices-Maggi,curry,thyme,ginger,garlic,salt, peppersoup spice etc
.
.

If you are sure of electricity (nepa ,solar or gen)to preserve these-Buy fresh beef meat, kpomo, goat meat chicken, fish, prawns etc and keep in the freezer.

(Don't forget to cook some soups and stews to freeze in small portions for single use as per number of persons in the house that are likely to eat from it.)
.
.
Fruits and vegetables (for fridge)-
Cucumber, carrots,green pepper,ugu, cabbage,scentleaf,apples, mango,oranges,banana, lemons, dates.

.
.
Groceries and provisions like-
Lots of Bread (big size loafs),Carton of noodles, At least 12 Sardines (for emergency jollof), Custard,Quaker oats,Milk, milo, sugar, Biscuits,Cornflakes , cereal, groundnut, Fruit Juice, green tea, mayonnaise, butter or jam(for bread),crate of eggs,Baby formula/milk.

.
.
10.household supplies and personal effects-
Tissue paper,Washing detergent,Harpic toilet cleaner,Bleach, Remote batteries, dish washing liquid,Body cream, bathing soap, beauty treatments, deodorant or body spray, hand washing soap, sanitary pads,Baby diapers,Baby wipes, baby toiletries, baby food/cereals,toothpaste, tooth brush, extra light bulbs, mosquito insecticide.
.
.

11.Get pet food, medicines,toiletries

.
.
12.Entertainment-
Pay for your internet data bundle and cable tv subscription.
Get Ebooks or paperback books, magazines or newspapers.
.
.

I didn't mention hand sanitizers, hand gloves and face masks because those are common knowledge and key things everyone should get to protect themselves whenever they go out.

.
.
PLEASE, LET'S USE THIS GUIDE TO STOCK UP OUR HOMES (in preparation for a possible lockdown).
.
.

Lastly,I know so many Nigerians are low income earners and hence don't have the resources to stock up.

So many persons don't earn enough money to allow for savings for emergency periods like this. Many rely on monies gotten from their daily petty hustle to feed and care for their families.
.
Those of us that are financially well off have a duty to play in helping such persons. Please, reach out to your friends, families and neighbors who don't have the means to stock up on food and household items .
.
.
Try sending them the little money you can afford to help them buy basic foodstuffs and household supplies. At this time, money can't save anyone.Let's bear that in mind and be our brother's keeper.I and my family have already assisted some few persons with Food supplies and cash to help them prepare to stay home If you can help in your little way, pls reach out to someone today.
.
.
We are preaching the gospel of staying at home to help prevent the spread of covid -19 pandemic.Nigeria isn't equipped with enough good hospitals, adequate number of doctors and medical personnels, test kits for coronavirus, ventilators and relevant hospital equipments to treat this virus. That's why we ought to stay home if we can, to avoid getting infected.
.
.
With God's grace upon the world, good hygiene practices, social distancing, quarantining, self isolating and Staying at home;I believe we will successfully beat the coronavirus scourge that has ravaged the world at large.

it's not a waste. The way the virus is spreading,a ban on trading and movements will soon be placed in all Nigerian states.
