My Vehicle Jerks When Changing Gear by Rekete(m): 9:39pm On Mar 24, 2020
Good evening.

Please, I have a Highlander with VIN JTEHF21A810015556. I have had to work on the gear box sometime last year. For more than two weeks, the selection was smooth and fine. Within the third week, I noticed that the movement is smooth from gear 1 to 2, but when going to 3, it will slow down almost to a halt and then you feel a jerk, and the subsequent selections will be smooth you won't even know when.

I have approached gear specialists here in Abuja, and they told me it is the brain box, and that nothing was wrong with my gear box. Now, I want to buy the brain box, but I'm confused. I don't want to buy gear box and other issues now come with it.

Kindly help me.

If it’s Toyota Highlander check your engine seat and also change your mechanic. Try three different kazeems and hear what they have to say after examining it

Could be brainbox but just run a scan first.

Thanks for all your contributions so far. I'm not quite sure it is the engine seat. I had even changed one of then. The jerking is peculiar to selection from gear 2 to 3.

I have gone for scan, but there are no error codes relating to the gearbox.

Thanks.

Run a scan on the transmission itself. Be sure they have a scanner that can diagnose transmission.

What is the condition of your ATF fluid? pink-red? brown? black?
Does it smell fresh or burnt?
