The Edo State Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki has reportedly tested negative to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, Igbere TV reports.

A statement widely circulated by his media aides Thursday night, and sighted by Igbere TV, suggests that the result of the investigation sent to the hospital returned 'negative'.

Earlier, Obaseki had gone into self-isolation following his contact with Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed and Chief of Staff to the President, Abba Kyari, who have both tested positive for coronavirus.

A statement made available to Igbere TV by Governor's Media Adviser, Mr. Crusoe Osagie, said Obaseki had met Sen. Mohammed at the Nigeria Governors Forum (NGF) and National Economic Council (NEC) meetings.

Osagie said although the governor is not showing any symptoms of the virus, he had taken the necessary precaution to self-isolate to protect people that may otherwise come in contact with him.

Meanwhile, speaker of the Edo State House of Assembly, Hon. Frank Okiye, has tested positive to the deadly coronavirus pandemic.

Igbere TV reports that Deputy Governor of the state, Comrade Philip Shaibu, stated this on Wednesday at a press conference, revealing that Okiye is the index case in Edo.

This Coronavirus test in Nigeria provides very quick results. Even Trump did not get his results so quickly. Are we sure it’s a genuine test? Well it’s good that governors are sitting at home and even barricading themselves in their states now. LMAO!
