The outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic had forced a lot of activities all over the world to a temporary halt. From sports to transportation to businesses to social and religious gatherings.

Bishop David Oyedepo and Pastor Biodun Fatoyinbo angered many Nigerians by holding church services against government orders.

With the indefinite suspension of religious gatherings, many churches have come up with several means to keep church activities going, such as conducting church services online.

However, something that has got many Nigerians talking is the new methods developed by churches for paying tithes, giving offerings/donations and sowing seeds.

Many people have condemned this, saying that at this critical moment, churches should be more concerned about their members stocking up enough to ensure that they survive when the country will be in lockdown, rather than still demanding tithes and offerings.

A Facebook User by the name 'Kelly Hassino' has come out to condemn the act, pointing out that P0rnHub, a popular p0rn site, donated 50,000 face masks to help in the fight against Covid-19, whereas churches are more interested in creating a USSD code that will enable their members pay their tithes and offerings online.

According to the title of your thread, Churches are only taking tithes from people. That seemed like a generalization. He countered your opinion as a result of that. That's not a derailment.

Some Churches are rich enough to do even more but NO! They'll rather keep the monies for their bishops and raise brand new offerings specially for this. Before they'll raise the offering specially for this, they must have first of all collected the monies you have got (for their G.Os) telling you why you need to give with the widow's mite cos God is the one that will spend the money. Then after this is collected and service is closed or near closed, they'll now say "oh! let's collect the 2nd offering for the corona virus" . By this time, everyone is tired, choir sef will be reluctant to sing that's if they'll be required to sing sef. People will just be yawning and a lot of people would not even put sef as they have emptied their accounts already, and for the immobile (legedis Benz owners) na transport remain (I. e. if dem never put am for offering as seed sowing). This is what's usually used to even buy what they buy and not the best of offerings sef. They don't have your interest at heart friends
