Strange as it may sound, while the world battles with the ravaging spread of coronavirus, there are not less than 20 countries on the globe that are yet to record a single case of the disease either as suspected or confirmed.
The nations and territories not yet affected by the
virus are drawn from continents and territories like
Africa, Asia and Oceania. However, it must be said that while these countries
have no mention of cases in their borders, the
governments have put in place precautionary
measures in case of any possible outbreak. There is no doubt that the global statistics on the
virus are alarming with Italy being the epicentre of
the disease in Europe. While these countries have no mention of cases in
their borders, the governments have put in place
precautionary measures in case of any possible
outbreak.
Below is a full list of countries that have remained
untouched by the plague:
1. Botswana
2. Burundi
3. Lesotho
4. Malawi
5. Sao Tome
6. Principe
7. Sierra Leone
8. South Sudan
9. North Korea
10. Tajikistan
11. Turkmenistan
12. Yemen
13. Solomon Islands
14. Vanuatu
15. Samao
16. Kribati, Micronesia
17. Tonga
18. Marshall Islands
19. Palau
20. Tuvalu
21. Naura

Territories in the world that have not been affected
by the disease are Guam, Northern Marianna
Islands, American Samoa, Cook Islands, Wallis and
Futuna, Niue, and Tokelau.
Meanwhile, Legit.ng reported that amid coronavirus spread, the Nigerian government had
added two more nations to the list of high-risk countries which are banned from entering the country. The two new countries added to the list were
Austria and Sweden. The minister of health, Osagie
Ehanire, made the announcement at a media
briefing on Friday, March 2020, in Abuja. In another post, Legit.ng reported that Nigerians had reacted to the federal government's restriction
of travellers from China, Italy and other high-risk countries
The restriction was put in place following the
unending coronavirus pandemic facing the
country. The affected countries also include Iran,
South Korea, Spain, Japan, France, Germany, USA,
Norway, UK, Netherlands and Switzerland. Many Nigerians who reacted to the news on social
media supported the restriction move by the
federal government. Others claimed the federal
government should have restricted the movement
from these countries a long time ago. According to
them, European countries had closed their borders as well.

Sierra Leone and South Sudan should please not record any. What befell them in recent years was worse that the pandemic. Sierra Leone is yet to recover from ebola while south Sudan was hard hit by civil war. They can't afford further loss of lives especially now that south Sudan has just embraced truce.

No. Our dear country can't afford to be on that list and I'd tell you why.

1) Nigeria is the mos-travelled country in africa and one of the 100 most-traveled nations on earth.

2) Nigerians are explorers. We always aspire for new discoveries and better ways of life.

3) Nigeria has the largest number if educated population in africa so, the quest for travel on education, research, healthcare, tourism and what have you is inevitable. Hardly would there be an international plane crash and no single nigerian would be on board...its rare.

4) Nigeria is a religious nation, which necessitates frequent travels.

5) Nigeria is grappling with massive unemployment due to bad leadership. People travel in search of greener pastures

6) we are faced with seemingly unending insecurity, caused by bad leadership, people travel for safe haven.

7) our health institution is in a state of comatose, caused by same bad leadership hence the need for the rich to seek medical treatment overseas, not minding how much it would cost them.

...and the list is endless.
