In simple English, it means regardless of how you feel about the government's actions, you should do what is best for you and your family.

How about that for simple English?...,,,,

When u say "it means", u are responding to an enquiry about d meaning of something. In d questions below, u weren't asked about d meaning of anything

How is d govt trying to protect Nigerians? How did d virus enter d country? What was d govts attitude towards ensuring d virus didn't enter Nigeria? Who is treating d people who have tested positive? Abba kyari was flown in an air ambulance to Lagos for special treatment. What is d fate of those who tested positive before he did? Why were d other abuja patients not airlifted to Lagos for treatment?

Is it not obvious that I don't care about your pointless and redundant question?

At the end of the day after ranting on and on about irrelevant issues, what are you going to do? Obey or disobey government order and expose yourself and your family?

Sounds like you just love to hear yourself rant and babble on and on.

This so called educated elites are still the ones that would cry foul when shit hits d fan. It seems to me that criticising the president is becoming a stimulus reaction for so many. I don’t blame them though. No one actually knows if Buhari is aware that he’s still president. If he is, is he aware that this is his second tenure? Cos the nigga on tv just look like someone who was tapped up from sleep and told:- “hey you’re president, we need you to read this out while we record. But still, the elites are really embarrassing the nation... Wole Soyinka is just another embarrassing elite at this point.

Oga, there is nothing unbecoming with what Soyinka said.

He is a Nigerian....an elite Nigerian at that. His position on the President's lockdown directive is obviously inquisitive and admonishing.

Soyinka simply called for caution and sensitivity to constitutionality in the issuance of directives as efforts are being made to contain the spread of the Corona virus epidemic.

Aren't we in a constitutional democracy anymore?

Am glad u said my posts are questions. But how can u say questions and at d same time classify d questions as ranting/babbling? Are they d same thing? I thought u said u understand simple English?

U are talking about disobeying or obeying government order. Do u see any reference to that in questions below taking into cognisance "understanding simple English"?:

How is d govt trying to protect Nigerians? How did d virus enter d country? What was d govts attitude towards ensuring d virus didn't enter Nigeria? Who is treating d people who have tested positive? Abba kyari was flown in an air ambulance to Lagos for special treatment. What is d fate of those who tested positive before he did? Why were d other abuja patients not airlifted to Lagos for treatment?

Also, in what ways has d president done d following?:

"On 28 January 2020, the Federal government of Nigeria assured citizens of the country of its readiness to strengthen surveillance at five international airports in the country to prevent the spread of coronavirus. The government announced the airports as Enugu, Lagos, Rivers, Kano and the FCT.[4] The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control also announced same day that they had already set up coronavirus group and was ready to activate its incident system if any case emerged in Nigeria.[5]"

I won't lie. This lockdown can't even be sustainable for 5 days. We like copying oyibo but can't even do it well.
How can u lock down a place so big without providing social welfare for the people. What about people that survive on daily earnings? The other countries that lock down, provide food, money and other benefits for their people, but mumu leaders will just want to lock people up just like that.
From day 5, people will start running out from their houses, it's better the "audio" corona virus kills them than hunger to kill them.
Buhari had the time and opportunity to just quarantine and isolate just few travellers coming in, but he didn't, now he wants to lockdown over 30million people. Medicine after death
True.

We are in a democracy, our constitution is the bedrock of our democracy, the same democracy that gave the president the power and authority to do what he did.

When you question a democratic act that's backed by the full weight of the constitution, then you are actually anti-democracy, unless maybe you and the prof have your own different brand of democracy that we don't know anything about.

Also, the professor did not beg for caution, he actually questioned the authority of the president to use a constitutionally genuine law and powers vested in him to protect Nigerians per the oath of office he took.

The president swore to protect Nigerians, he took that oath and he's legally doing what the constitution permitted him to do and you are the professor, on the other hand, did not swear an oath to protect Nigerians.

No bruh! He just wasted an opportunity to actually make sense again! I repeat, the elites are Nigeria’s failures. My lecturers in school know everything about Nigeria and it’s problems as well as the constitution you made mention of. Yet all of us, led by them(elites), still come together and elect people who have no idea about these issues. Soyinka like most elites shouldn’t be listened to. Their know how has led us nowhere.

Don't mind that guy. He has been asking very annoying question.
I don't support every policy of the president but he is right on this one.

Anyone asking foolish question should check why Asia from where the disease emerged are managing the situation better than economically advanced western nations.

There was a lock down of some cities in Asian countries, and the citizens obeyed the lock down. Thereby the effect and death toll was highly reduced.

But take Italy for instance. At the beginning the Italian government locked down the province of Lombardy where the thing was prevalent But Italians didn't obey it. Some ran to the southern province and before you know it. It has spread the entire country and today look at the terrible death toll.

Likewise us and UK didn't tackle the issues in time, analysts are warning that there death toll will rise to Italy level.

The President took a very wise advice. Since the virus has not spread much, a 14days lock down will mitigate the spread in these high incidence cities of Lagos, Abuja.

Prof got this one very wrong.

The problem is you Nigerians are used to chaos and disorder that it has become part and parcel of your daily lives. A president that refused to shut down point of entry when it mattered most to contain the spread of the virus simply came out of nowhere to announce a lockdown giving only 24hr notice. Does your country have law?

Government was doing the right thing by ordering this lock down to prevent uncontrollable crisis of great proportion.
