- The man expressed appreciation to the Lagos state government for having a good recovery hospital
- The Asian says he and his friend came to Nigeria from the United Kingdom
An Asian man who was treated in an isolation
centre in Lagos after testing positive for
coronavirus has commended the state government
after being discharged. According to him, he and a friend came to Nigeria
from the United Kingdom. Legit.ng notes that the Asian man said he decided to stay in Lagos since a lot of countries were closing
their borders.
He was tested for coronavirus in Lagos and came
out positive, after which he was treated at an
isolation centre in the state. The Asian man said he has fully recovered and
expressed his appreciation to the state government
for having a good recovery hospital.
In other news, Bassey Offiong was a 25-year-old student of Western Michigan University who died of
coronavirus on Saturday, March 28. The student, who was from Detroit, was expected
to graduate with a chemical engineering degree in
a few weeks. The deceased's sister identified as Asari Offiong said
her brother told her he was turned down several
times for the coronavirus test in the Kalamazoo area
while living off-campus. According to Asari, Bassey said he was turned
down several times despite having fever, fatigue
and shortness of breath.
She said: "I told him to ask them to test him. He said
they refused to test him."
Meanwhile, Legit.ng previously reported that the World Health Organisation (WHO) commended a
health worker identified as Nurse Kirimi for her contribution towards the fight against coronavirus
in Kenya.
According to WHO, Nurse Kirimi works at Kenyatta
University Teaching Referral and Research Hospital
and she has been on the frontline in the fight
against the deadly disease. WHO also noted that many other brave Kenyan
health workers have been on the frontline in the
fight against the coronavirus pandemic. The organisation wrote on its Facebook page:
"Thank you Nurse Kirimi working at Kenyatta
University Teaching Referral & Research Hospital
from everyone at World Health Organization (WHO)!
She & many other brave Kenyan health workers are
on the front line in the fight against #COVID19."
