OYO STATE COVID-19 TASK FORCE UPDATE (APRIL 02, 2020)

1. There have been eight confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Oyo State. One confirmed case was discharged on March 31, 2020. So, there are currently seven active cases.

2. The diagnostic centre at the Virology Laboratory, College of Medicine, University of Ibadan, is fully functional and has been approved by the Nigerian Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) to be the collection centre for Oyo, Ogun and Kwara States.

3. The virtual classroom program for SS3 students, organised by the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology has commenced and will be delivered via TV, radio and the Oyo State website.

4. A team from the World Health Organisation (WHO) and the NCDC, visited the 100-bed Infectious Disease Centre, Olodo, and adjudged it to be 85% ready.

5. We have received enquiries from individuals and private organisations about donating towards the state’s effort to prevent the spread of COVID-19 in the state.
