In order to avoid resentment at being told to avoid certain measures used for symptom relief, it's much better to examine why and how the treatments work. (Note, no one said it's a cure).


I don't understand exactly the manner in which lemon gives symptomatic relief, but it clears congestion temporarily. Drinking something hot or warm also makes the person feel better if only for a while.

I think lime might also work if lemon is scarce.

Just guessing. But generally, limes can be substituted for lemon.
