Following mixed reactions trailing the arrival of 15 Chinese doctors in the country, the Minister of Health Mr Osagie Ehanire has cleared the air on possible misconceptions surrounding the arrival of the Chinese doctors. minister was quotes saying "We didn't bring the Chinese doctors. A Chinese company, in its own wisdom, did. But we are happy that they are here. We want to learn from their experiences.

Mr Ehanire further stated that "The Chinese doctors are currently self-isolating for 14 days. And the NCDC can check up on them anytime. They tested negative in China, but we still have to isolate them"

He urged citizens not to underestimate the nature of the virus as it's effects are profound, imploring them to strictly adhere to social distancing as it is one major ways of avoiding the spread of the virus, so as the curb the spread of the virus.

Mr Ehanire also stated that "There is almost no healthcare system in the world that is ready for COVID-19. But the lesson is that one should be prepared. We are happy that we have medical stockpiles."

The statement can be evidently seen in countries like the US, Italy, France, China. Even with sophisticated health system, these countries records casualties in mass numbers.

The Nigerian government placed a ban on all international flights except those specifically sanctioned by the government. There is ABSOLUTELY no way a private company can arrange for the "importation" of Chinese doctors into the country without the active support of the government.

You see from the look of things they might have even infected Nigerians with the more potent one you talked about. Why did you think they singled out Nigerians in China to quarantine them for 24 days instead of the normal 14days?

Bullshit! Just imagine what a nation's minister of health is saying as regards a global pandemic with nations on total lockdown.Of course it's simply shows how the govt does not value the lives of its citizens.

This is even more indicating to Nigeria as a nation... little wonder why the chinese threw us on the street without food and water in a pandemic period..

This is pure inferiority complex.

Maybe British companies would start importing their doctors also, maybe Spanish coys aswell, Asians, Latinos, Mexicans companies. Alomo bitters, spar, dstv , shoprite can also start thinking in that line of bringing their Ghanian and South african doctors.

The invite would have been better knowing it's from the Government because of the novelty of the pandemic disease and not private institutions, this is an indictment on the NMA

If the test kits the Chinese brought are efficient enough to know if they are positive or not, why still quarantine them for 14 days?
Re: We Didn't Bring Chinese Doctors, A Chinese Company Did - Health Minister by LibertyRep: 8:08am On Apr 12, 2020
It really does not make any sense to me.

If the Chinese company feels uncomfortable with Nigerian doctors, they could have as well evacuated their citizens back to China just as some other countries did, instead of importing doctors to Nigeria.

There's something they are hiding from the public.

..what of our govt that allowed them practice "racism" in nigeria?? I think they came to install an emergency facility to handle cases since our ogas cannot travel out again. All this talk of chinese company blahblah is smoke screen. It is a fact that for a foreigner to practice as a doctor in nigeria he needs to be validated by regulatory bodies but in this case....too many loop holes.
