Nowenuse: Who are the other Nigerians apart from Igbos? None. 100 years ago was just 1920. How many Hausa Fulanis were doctors, lawyers, engineers, architects, journalist etc? SW had large population of educated folks as at then. If you are talking about the Ajami script era, do remember Yoruba was written in Ajami scripts as far back as in the 17th century in Oyo empire. SW travelled more than any group in 1920. Fact If you think SW are relenting on getting education, you are totally wrong.
It counts because it accounts for substantial amount of people and it is what makes the state function effectively. The fact that you rubbish it speaks well of how other states neglect this vital part of governance. Who dominates in the service sector of Lagos state? Let us defer the talk on industry. 6 Likes |

Covidodo:Shamless idiot, the Igbos share no part in your North/West (Master and slave) love story, we are hated by you two bastards as it is, and the feeling is very very very much mutual. So you are content admitting to the fact that the "great Yoruba" nation is been lorded over by the illiterate North? where is your pride you vociferous low ball-hanging effeminate beta loser? . No wonder an Aboki audaciously called you sophisticated morons uncivilized on national television, they have grounded your Amotekun into obscurity. They have relegated you to third class citizens in Niger, Kwara, Kogi states and you have absolutely no political voice in or worth. Shameless ewedu gobbling loser. 1 Like 1 Share |

BoboNkiti19:You done they vex Do they have to be popular ?. Sharing is caring! A Catholic mission school, Bishop Nwedo Memorial Boys’ High School, in Umuahia, Abia State has expelled over 20 students for practicing homosexuality. The school management dismissed these students on the day that there were to commence their first term examination. Affected students were in junior as well as senior secondary school levels. According to a local source, the school authorities organised a prayer session following reported cases of homosexual practices in the school. During the prayer session, the school managers urged students who had indulged in homosexual acts to confess or they would suffer terrible calamities. Some students came forward and disclosed that they had indulged in homosexual acts with junior or senior school students. Subsequently, the school authorities expelled these students without allowing them to take the first term examination. A parent expressed shock and disappointment at the harsh punishment meted out to these students by Bishop Nwedo Memorial Boys’ High School. According to this parent, the dismissal of the students has traumatized them, and has disrupted their academic program. The decision to punish students for homosexuality does not align with the position of Pope Francis who has noted that homosexual tendencies “are not a sin“. Students who confessed to homosexuality expected love and proper guidance from the school authorities, not expulsion. A school that has honesty as its motto should not treat students who expressed honesty this way. In fact mission schools are expected to act with compassion not cruelty towards those who confess to have behaved in a particular way whether sinful or not. He appealed to the principal of the school, Rev Fr Benjamin Onyemachi to review this decision, recall the students and allow them to continue their education at the school. omonnakoda: |

Nowenuse: Southerners eat mostly starchy foods that are sourced from two major sources; namely from Cassava and Yam. Cassava only constitutes more than 60% of our source of carbohydrate. Cassava product majorly consumed include Garri, Fufu, Lafu etc while Yam product includes Pounded and Alubo. More than 60% of cassava is produced in the southwest while the Yoruba produce at least 30% of Nigeria yam in States like Oyo, Ogun, Kwara, Ondo, Ekiti and Kogi. The major agricultural produces that comes from the core north are beans, spices, watermelon and best why the middle belt provide majorly Yam. Finally, an independent Yoruba land will be self-sufficient in food production and become a net food exporter. 6 Likes |

You call a city with an International airport predominantly full of illiterates? this is what you get when nairaland is your main source of information and as for the strong belief that eastern ports are not favoured like lagos ports, its all lies and propaganda. The Lagos ports are what it is because of the geography as a true Natural harbour which favours bigger ships than other ports in Nigeria and secondly the fact that Lagos have better basic amenities than other cities in Nigeria which foreigners will prefer. You guys would have cried more if states like ogun and ondo had got their acts together before now as they possess even better geography for deep sea ports for more bigger ships to berth there. Goke7: Barbilius: You Southerners have become heavily urban over the years. How many Southerners will be willing to go back to crude farming right now? Unless it is mechanized farming. And unless you Yorubas get your own country, I don't see anyone in Yorubaland investing in Mechanized agriculture when the North is still there. See bros, unless your future Oodua country's govt is desperately interested in investing in Agriculture against all odds, otherwise it will be futile. Cos think of it, Northern agriculture which will always be next door will always be cheaper than Yorubaland agriculture. Cos we have the vast, larger swathes of cheaper fertile land compared to you guys, we also have cheaper labour. The average Yoruba youth has been captured by the glamour of Western lifestyle and everyone wants to blow and drive a Benz, that's why if it is not Yahoo or Runs. Nowenuse:On the contrary, a number of youths in the SW are now into farming, even youth from influential families eg son of immediate past health Minister, prof Isaac Adewole, he was kidnapped on his farm that time, and others like that. And yes, for our future country, agriculture will play a pivotal role in a mechanized scale(only in a useless country like Nigeria will they b screaming of diversification through agriculture while agriculture is still largely peasantry.). With the advent of agricultural tech companies like farm crowd, it has even made agriculture more interesting. Oyo state is one of the largest producers of cat fish in Nigeria, ditto for poultry and piggery. So we will just be fine. Food we can't produced can be bought from middle belt farmers or worst still we import. Everybody go dey alright last last 3 Likes |

Grayoso: I never argued with you that better business models will not replace that of the Igbos. My point is that, If Igbos are leaving, not just their businesses will leave, but their large numbers are leaving also. And we all know that a large consumption population would leaving too and not just a large consumption population of any kind, but a quality one (based on African standards) cos we can all attest to the higher standard of life of Igbos (based on African standards). My question for you is that, do you think a Lagos of 5 million middle-class citizens would ever attract the same foreign investment as a Lagos of 10 million middle-class citizens? Pls answer without bias. 1 Like 1 Share |

Nowenuse: The Agriculture of the 21st century will be defined by how well it can be commercialized and mechanized. Through, landmass, and cheaper labour will play a role but such a role will be hugely limited. For example, Thailand is the largest exporter of processed Cassava product, earning more than $4billion dollars from the export of this product despite having a much smaller cultivated land compared to Nigeria. What they have been able to do is mechanized it and operate the farm as a business. Today, Majority of the largest integrated farms are in Yoruba land. The capital is in the west, the biggest market is in the west and manpower is also in the west. It is just a matter of time before the west become an industry leader in Agro-based business in Africa( we already a leader in Nigeria) 3 Likes 1 Share |

Nowenuse: Bro you don't know what you are saying. Just stick to the info about Nigeria tribes which is your specialty and leave this kind of discussion for superior minds. SMEs don't have a larger share in Lagos taxes/revenue. That is a blatant lie. Below is how Lagos get her revenue: PAYE (45%): Pay As You Earn (PAYE) is a form of personal income tax that refers to tax deducted directly from the wages and salaries of employees operating in the formal sector. Other Taxes (19.27%): These include various taxe such as levies on market traders, land registration and other landrelated fees, as well as development levies on individuals, pool betting/lottery/gaming fees and stamp duties on individuals. Direct Assessment (2.39%): Direct assessment relates to those taxes imposed on businesses, especially (informal) by the State authorities, based on the size of their activities. Road Tax (2.48%): Road taxes are daily levies paid by commercial transporters operating within Lagos. Based on the above: You should apologize ASAP for giving ridiculous statistics about the SME generating that ridiculous amount of revenue for Lag which you opined up here. Stop meddling into things you don't understand. The Igbo 2by 2 shops are not what is generating tax for the Lagos government. What the Banks, Insurance, Mega-corporations, Dangote, and etc. generates alone for Lagos is more than what those 2by2 shops will generate for 500 years!
