In the age of disinformation and distortion of truths, it's always advisable to read the content of a press release, before making comments. This thread is meant to counter the false narrative that Northern States are not under lockdown, and only Lagos and some Southern states are being forced to stay indoors. In the statement credited to the Governor of Plateau state, the governors didn't say Northern States will not be locked down, it only said states will adopt the measures that it deems fit as the need arises. It's on record that before the total lockdown was declared in Lagos and Abuja, some Northern governors had already taken the measure. States like Kwara, Niger, Kaduna and Nasarawa had already ordered schools to close and implemented a partial or total lockdown of their states, even before these states recorded any index case. Other states like Kano and Katsina soon followed. Niger state has only one case. And still, they are under a total lockdown, which the citizens have been obeying. The pictures below are of Minna, Niger state today. The military have been deployed in some areas to ensure people are kept indoors. Northern states are also under a partial or total lockdown. Those states, especially Lagos state, that are starting to witness a community to community transmission should focus on following the directives from the Federal Ministry of Health, so as to ensure we defeat this virus, rather than running comparisons between different states. 2 Likes 2 Shares

Good that everyone is observing the stay at home Although I still maintain that the lock down is not sustainable. |
