Recent trends suggest that politicians may soon become an endangered specie if urgent steps are not taken to curtail the current ugly scenario. There have been reports of people attacking vehicles conveying bread, rice and other commodities to keep body and soul together. Hoodlums in large numbers rob and maim ordinary Nigerians even in their houses. There is palpable fear among politicians that they may become the next target no matter how fortified their mansions are. A politician friend of mine says he hardly comes out of his premises and has sternly warned his gateman never to open his gate to anyone be he family or friend. Things are gradually getting out of hand with the latest trends.
