Medical Lab. Scientists should be drafted, trained and get to work asap. This lockdown is hitting hard on the people.

I fear any further extension after the second 14days. People might likely revolt. lipsrsealed
It's quite a pity that we have many biochemists, microbiologists, molecular biologists and others to do a great job using modern tech but we just go to sleep as usual.

At least this governor is proving to have an eye amongst a sea of totally blind leaders.

Ogun State people should be appreciative of the fact that their land is close to Lagos. and inspite of the glaring facts , they are still way behind in the development.
Ogun State does not have Molecular Testing
Centre and Obasanjo who is the son of the soil was the president of the country for 8 years .
primitive people.

Commendable.

Make sure you get qualified and licensed Medical Laboratory Scientists to run, manage and direct that laboratory not quacks and pretenders.

Is not about setting lab here and there. Will this lab function long after covid 19 that's the question

medical lab practitioners can't do shit on molecular lab, even the Normal medical lab they are struggling. The best hand for this is the biochemist.

I hope you know what you are saying. Do you know how far some medical laboratory scientist have gone in molecular/cytogenetic diagnosis? Who man all the molecular labs in all the teaching/specialist hospitals and NGO labs in Nigeria? Biochemist? Do biochemist work in medical laboratories? Get your facts right.

BTW this OOUTH lab looks basic. The equipment are just basic. Sustaining the lab is another thing. Kudos to the governor.

The few medical laboratory personal I have met are just too basic with the normal laboratory test. When it comes to molecular research they are behind, or except those that have gone further into molecular research, which is more of the biochemist thing.

That means you are a layman in the health care system if all the med lab personels you know are just basic. Like I said b4, get your facts right. Go to the few medical molecular labs and other special labs we have in Nigeria and check out those who man them. If you see a biochemist there, let us know here.

You only see what you want to see.

There are several qualified Medical Laboratory Scientists who are specialist in moleular diagnostics, some of with M.Sc and PhDs manning GeneXpert and PCR laboratories in Gaduwa, JUTH, NIMR, NAUTH, LUTH, UDUTH, UBTH etc.

Some of them are into private practice and and run molecular assays for research students whose projects are molecular based. I can personally name 35 Medical Laboratory Scientists who are specialists in molecular diagnostics off-hand.

Like I said, you only see what you want to see and we know why. You sound too pedestrian.
