BREAKING: PENGASSAN Orders Strike Over Arrest Of Exxonmobil Staff by Kwanza: 10:47am On Apr 19, 2020
Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria has asked its members to shut operations and all activities at the nation’s oil rigs and export terminals from Sunday midnight.

It also ordered its members to withdraw all forms of services relating to crude oil production, refining, distribution and supplies.

PENGASSAN said this was necessitated by the refusal of Rivers State Government to release detained 21 offshore ExxonMobil staff since Thursday.

The association in a statement on Sunday said, “The Federal Government and relevant authorities have failed to secure the release of these 21 comrades on legitimate national assignment, the leadership of Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria have no other option regrettably than to direct all our members to commence the withdrawal of services as follows:

“By midnight Sunday 19th April 2020, all Export facilities will stop operation as well as suspension of Production & Maintenance Services Reports.

“That by 12 noon on Monday 20th April all our members will withdraw all forms of services relating to crude oil production, refining, distribution and supplies.”

I don't get it.Are they kept in wike private residence. If they are in Federal custody, prison or police station. The federal government should free them and let see what he will do if he will use vigilant to arrest them and keep them in cage. The federal government is just allowing him. They just instruct the police and para not to take orders again from him and he will only make noise. The country can't afford revenue lost at this time when we are heading for recession

Blackmail against the Rivers state government. Wike should not be moved by this blackmail. If akara sellers who are trying to earn a living to feed their families are being arrested and prosecuted, the ExxonMobil staffs are not bigger than the law, they should be prosecuted as well. Nonsense !

Exactly.
They're trying to blackmail Wike in d court of public opinion but it won't work.
Worthy of note is that Wike has been complaining d Fed govt took d arrogant approach of staying in Abuja and issuing press statements instead of as little as calling him on the phone.
I can't blame Wike for running helter skelter to protect his ppl,if buhari had been this proactive, we wouldn't be in this mess now.

You are such an idiot.Do you know what is called essential services. Why is he allowing the police and military move in and around the state. He should have equally stopped them.Whr is getting the revenue he is using to governor the state . Without revenue from oil sells you think he will be making noise.Educated ewu.And I know your type is a pouper who doesn't know whr tax office is located. Then, for ur information he has released them without any charges after boosting. You want to fight the finger that feeds you because you want to politicize everything

Wike should release the staff with the condition that they remain within Exxon properties
for the next 21 days.
Even with Abba Kyari's death, some people have failed to learn that feeling too big does
not protect anyone from Covid-19.

You sound unhinged
Why don't you type rationally for once in your life?

Wike doesn't control the police or military so your questions is mute.
Moreover, no sane person will compare law enforcement services with those
of any sector.

Let us even concede that these 22 workers are essential.
Being an essential worker doesn't give anyone the license to move around irresponsibly.
A doctor shouldn't be driving around the town because he is a doctor.

It is difficult for you to grasp because you are not used to people doing the right thing without being forced.
You probably survive through breaking laws.

It is not a must to use English, you have the option to use Pidgin.

If Rivers state depended on tax, its residents will starve.
This is a basic fact that a high school kid should know but Biafran4life
thinks tax sustains the Nigerian government at any level.

I can feel your pain but remain indoors for now.
We wouldn't want someone using the third mainland bridge at this time.

Exactly. FG has nothing put in place in Rivers State to prevent COVID-19, absolutely nothing. They prefer using Rivers as their ground for making oil money and sharing to the north.

Wike is not fighting the Oil companies, but FG.

Clowns here will be spewing trash. They want Rivers to become another Lagos with tens of COVID-19 cases everyday.
If they had shutdown flights into the country or put a compulsory 14days quarantine/isolation in FG designated areas, all this nonsense wouldn't have happened. If at all it did it would not have been this bad especially in Lagos.

As intelligent as you think you sounded, your foolishness still echoed. The police/military are still classified as essential services and not superior to any other essential services at this period .And u feeling you could question my english made me laugh in french. As having nothing reasonable to write you picked those error which your sense could have told you is common when typing from a phone.Lastly, you didn't tell us why he was quick to release them after all the noise. You could still pass through education and not be intelligent which is just what you exhibited

If them like make them go shutdown, who do u think it affect the most,
Because of one state all other state must suffer, fg fit play that card. If it happens price of everything go fly up, more crimes, black market go full area, state revenue go drop and fg own too and corona still da. FG better wise up and talk to the man.

Why not just suspend all oil lifting and distribution in Rivers, than subjecting d whole country to Wike's toutish and st upid behaviours?
It's only fellow touts that support Wike's actions.

So was Abba Kyari.

Actually, they are on a private assignment.

Covid-19 does not respect national, public, private, essential or non-essential assignments.

Any responsible adult should take precautions to protect themselves and others.
Those 22 workers also have families at home who can become victims.
