If you did proper search on your search engine, you would have found where Ambode was complaining about 50% of Lagos state generated Tax being shared to other states by the FG.

LAGOS State governor, Mr Akinwunmi Ambode, has denounced the practice whereby 50 percent of Value Added Tax (VAT) generated monthly by the state is being shared to other states of the federation.

“It’s not that we will generate VAT here and somebody will be sharing 50 percent of the VAT somewhere else.

You cannot tell me you know more about Tax sharing formula than the governor of a state
Keep quiet, Ambode was only referring to The State’s 50% share of VAT, The Local Governments share 35% is for the Local Government, although pursuant to the provisions of The Constitution they share a joint account.

It is stated categorically that 50% of VAT generated by the state is shared to other states of the federation.

what a joke. Is the 15 percent not money? What happened to the billions of dollars made from oil? Like I stated even refugees in Europe get housing cheques food and even go to school free! Now a full blooded Nigerian gets nothing to stay at home in a period like this and you support the govt? You part of the people spoiling this country
It is not that hard to read the budget.
And the maths of oil is quite simple.
You don't need to speculate.
Nigerians are mostly illiterates when it comes to governance.

How do you know a country that can pay its citizens $1000+ for the lockdown?
Just check the GDP per capita

I've been reading comments from some Nigerians saying the reason why the federal government can't pay NIGERIANS the way foreign governments have been paying their citizens is cos Nigerian s don't pay tax. If I may ask can the FG account for the billions of naira it collects from all of us as VAT? Not to talk of the PAY AS YOU EARN.

THE government is just been irresponsible if they refuse to pay stay at home stipends
some Nigerians too will be forming tax payers lol.
Vat is shared among three tiers of govt while FG takes 15%. FG dont recieve PAYEE from state civil servants , it belongs to state govt

European economy is built on tax.

Tax is 40% of Europe Gdp
Tax constitue 90% of European Government Revenues .

What is tax percentage in Nigeria GDP cheesy
Tax revenue for government in Nigeria is not even up to 30%.

Maybe buhari should order CBN to start printing dollars , euros and pounds to share as stimulus package

You explain what he meant, and where he got his facts from, and name any other person, Ministry, Governor, or Bureau that has reiterated that stupid statement made by Ambode, or is it only in Lagos State, that VAT is payed?, or doesn’t Lagos State collect statutory allocation from the oil & gas of The Niger Delta?, he should have told the audience what he has done with the Local Government share of VAT, before he tries to shift blame. Zombie follow follow, learn to think for yourself.

Nigerians don't pay tax.

Those flaunting paychecks from their government won't tell you they pay between 15 - 25% tax whereas in Nigeria we pay a paltry 5-7%.....thats why most of us think those politicians we elect are magicians, they are not and that's why they almost always fail...... If tax should be increased now, your likes will want heaven to fall forgetting that those developed countries we admire collect far higher taxes from their citizens

7% is partly? I thought its even 0%. So why can't the share stipend according to that 7% we pay? Does it have to be up to 15% before they can do it?

You guys defend rubbish all the time.

lemme spell it out in detail
for instance Lagos makes#50 other states make #50, Lagos accrues about 50% of the total VAT in Nigeria, then when it's shared Lagos gets her portion of the 50% shared among the states government (#50/36) and other states take equal share it. That's what Ambode was complaining about.
When calculated about 50% of the total VAT generated in Lagos State alone goes to other states.

Ignorant and naive comment
Educate yourself please and stop this foolishness, start by asking how much the tax revenue amounts to and how much of it is used in recurrent expenditure....... The fact is the tax collected and oil revenue is not enough to meet recurrent expenditure talk less carrying out any meaningful capital expenditure apart from buying vehicles and office equipments
That's what your politicians told you because they know that's what you need to hear.

Ever Ask yourself the source of your Senator's and Presidency's monthly Allawances yet your country is so broke to cater for it's goals

Please hide your shame a little na.
