Matured Mind Responses Needed - Married Couples and not common law partners, Lawyers, Religious Leaders etc.

When people get married in a religious center / court, it is believed that it is for better, for worse, for richer ..... and all the other words or vows that goes with being married.

If I may ask, what is the right thing when it comes to beneficiary representation in an individual's financial record be it in banks, insurances etc. ?

For example, I have noticed husbands putting their kids as the beneficiary and not the wives and wives also putting their kids and not their husbands.

Is this right?
