Why can't we appreciate innovative thinkers? Some people would have a simple cold but think they have Covid. They would end up causing themselves and the people around them some panic. Or worse, they could even carelessly expose themselves to the virus they do not have by going out of their houses looking for succour.

Let's stop beefing and be appreciative ojare. If only 30% of the citizens of the state can use the App, that's 30% fewer biko.

A lot of people including the op are talking like illiterates and lack comprehension skills.

The man didn't say the app will "test" for the virus. He simply said it will assist in knowing those who qualify for testing.

A lot of the testing centres get overwhelmed with people because of anxiety. This will help alleviate fears and reduce further exposure (going to hospitals when not needed).

Even when u go to these testing centres, they will first ask u questions i believe the app will, and if u qualify, you are tested otherwise, you are sent back

The only disadvantage is that, most of them are illiterates who might not be able to use the app but it's still a welcome development.

A state that has link to 9 states, and all have reported cases while Kogi State gov. develop covid 19 app. He want people to the die... I pray he won't fall victim.

I'm going to defend Yahaya bello for once...so here we go

1.An app might be very useful to help diagnosis. Fact is, covid19 presents with several types of known symptoms, so using the app might help.

2.Where the problems arise is, firstly, how many people in Kogi have access to an android phone? Am sure the rural areas don't have enough android phones too

2.Secondly, the basis behind the app is that someone who uses it and finds out he or she is positive....the next thing is to report to NCDC. Setting aside the fact that provisions for reaching an approved center may not be enough, the problem is, someone who may be positive would not report...stigma, and not willing to be isolated.

3.Finally, even if the app ticks you off as covid19 sufferer....you might not be. Fever, cough and breathlessness can be seen in a variety of respiratory tract infections. Only way to know is by testing for sure.

Having said that, the app is a good idea...especially as the people most affected for now are the educated elite who are most likely to have internet connections and android phones.

I'm not a fan of governor Bello, but I completely agree with you. I've seen the app and used it. it's actually quite innovative and commendable. but all the reservations you mentioned are very valid
