COVID-19: Anambra police command distributes free facemasks to residents

The Anambra State Police Command has commenced free distribution of facemasks to the the public.

The purpose, the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Haruna Mohammed,said was to contain the spread of COVID-19 in the state.

In a statement entitled: "Sharing of facemasks to 'Ndi Anambra', by the Anambra Police command as part of its efforts to contain the spread of COVID-19 in the state, Mohammed said the distribution commenced on Monday.

He said the masks were distributed to commuters in major streets of the state.

Mohammed added, "Today 27/4/2020, the Anambra State Police Command under the leadership of CP John B.Abang commenced the distribution of face masks to 'Ndi Anambra' in other to contain the spread of COVID-19 which has become a global pandemic.

"The command equally enjoined the public to always wear face masks and maintain social distancing whenever it becomes necessary for them to[url][/url] go out


Reacting, a lawyer who may not want his name published said, "I want to commend this effort from the CP personally.

"I commend him more in realizing that there wouldn't be personal protection in the midst of community spread. In protecting a neighbor one protects himself.

"This idea must be passed around to our people. It is not about having the means.
It is from this orientation that I hold the opinion with others that we must do all we can not to allow the looming "atomic bomb" in Kano to explode.

"If it does, God forbid, the shrapnel will reach the shores of the Atlantic."
