Revealed! Reasons Why Bodies of Drowned Three Sisters Buried Besides Ebonyi River Without Caskets, (GRAPHIC PHOTOS)

Residents of Ishiagu communities in Ivo Local Government Area of Ebonyi State broke down in tears on Saturday when the bodies of three sisters who drowned in a stream were recovered.

Ebonyitvnews.com correspondent who visited the scene gathered they were buried beside the stream without casket as culture and tradition demanded.

Their burial rites were preceded by a short traditional service, which excluded women and girls.

An elder person who is also a member of the family of the deceased while speaking with our correspondents described their deaths as unfortunate tragedy.

“It is very unfortunate that the three blood sisters ended this way. This tragedy is not natural, the stream which they died is very small, it can not even swallow half of my working stick, maybe something is behind this and we the elders shall go extra miles to unravel the cause of there deaths. He said.

In line with Ishiagu custom, the bodies of drowned persons will never be buried in a compound but rather beside the River were the incident occured. And in the cause of their burial, they are usually buried without caskets.

“It is a well known fact here that the body of a drowned person are buried beside the river, any attempt to take their corpse home will spill doom to the family of the deceased and other who soever that pertake in their burial. It is believed that the goddess of the river took them. A resident on the scene told our reporter.
