Re: Reps Insists On Two-Month Free Electricity For Nigerians by Susu888(m): 5:59am On May 01, 2020
See this ones... they are using blue lines so they don't face any shortage na why dem dey talk about it being free. Abeg let them first compel the FG nd the distribution companies to steady the electricity for us first before we talk about it being free.

If they can steady the power most wouldn't bother be it free , paid, loan/debt... we just want light abeg. sad

Ever since i've been following Nigerian politics, the National lower house has always impress me, pushing reasonable bills unlike the upper house!

Anything that involves the
government cheating or making
life hard for citizens is implemented
immediately..

But if it comes to giving back
something to its citizens, its always
one delay, argument or the other..

In fact, the government will sometime
even deny that they promised
anything.

I never see a wicked, soulless,
lifeless government like this one.

These guys are idiots. If you want to do something why don't you do it at once? Why the to and fro arguments. Empty drums always making loud noises. This is what happens when the government controls the house of rep. How much is 100 billion naira biko? Cant they use part of the donations?

PART OF DONATIONS!! Is the entire covid 19 donation up to N100bln.?

Am increased tariff shows up in your bill and not your consumption. Your are probably consuming more because of the stay at home.

how do you give something you don't have free?

You can!

Nothing free is truly free. If the Reps are actually serious about what they are saying then the govt should pay for it to be free for Nigerians for the stipulated time.

But we all know what AUDIO pronouncements are in this country grin

All this na show.

They will just be toying with people's emotion.

Just yesterday, I still heard the jingles of IBEDC warning that there's no free electricity and unmetered customers should come to their office to pick their bills.

If the deal hasn't been finalized, there's no point in telling the public so as not to put unnecessary friction between the DISCOs and their customers.

Anytime i see this type of topic my heart bleeds.

Abeg which free electricity? do they even provide electricity in the first place? or maybe im the one getting it twisted.

It is like promising to give your Babe a treat with money you don't even have. The worst-case scenario is for them to put everybody in darkness as usual and not bring bills for 3 months unlike now that they bill us without supplying any electricity.

Ignorant lawmaker! Actually its just a resolution by the House and its not binding on the President. However, instead of shouting on the media while scoring cheap political points, the lawmakers should sit, think and liaise with the FG and the NESI players.
1. Who r the customers u want to give free light?
2. Will the big customers benefit from this largesse or not?
3. The energy requirements of most big industries are more than all residential consumers. Are we gonna gv these industries free light too?
4. What are the modalities for payments by the FG? Are they gonna be covering the invoices in full (even if they can waive TCN's share)? Or FG is gonna pay according to current percentages each Disco remit to the NESI? The craziest part is that the same FG just mandated the Discos to remit 100% of their invoices back to NBET. Actually the Minister is right. No be by mouth online else u gv free power to the mostly the rich who can afford to pay n less to the poor who really cant!

I use prepaid meter. Initially I consume #2500 monthly, which some around me think it's on the high side. I now consume 4k worth of power. I have a small freezer(which is on 7pm-7am), one TV which no one has time for, two fans, 5 (5watts) energy saving bulbs and I pump water once a week into my small thank.
BTW , I used to consume more power before lockdown. My freezer worked 24/7, my ac worked when heat gets unbearable, I pumped water 2-3 times a week and my son would stay glued to Disney junior.

They should consider buying electricity for us instead if they are serious!
All the years that the companies have been taking your money without providing electricity, and not compensating you doesnt make you angry. It is a suggestion that you enjoy what in some countries is already free that angers you.

No one has been taking my money without compensating me! I have a meter in my house and only pay for what I use, so, no, I have nothing to be angry about since I do not expect to reap where I have not sown.

Name the countries where electricity is free please so we can analyse how and why it is free.

Good so because they didnt cheat you automatically means they have not cheated others. Those others too should not be compensated because all is well with you. SMH

I bet some think electricity is stored away in some vault somewhere. Just open and distribute it because some stupid Rep said so.

If we were serious, we'd be burning the Reps houses down till they pay the electric companies to give us electricity. But no. They'd rather treat the electric company like it was still government owned or they live in a socialist society!

This is not about compensation! If you have been cheated, stand up and fight for your right instead of begging for it as charity!

There is no reason why a non-government company should give you its product for free.

The house of reps members should go and sit down somewhere jare..If they give it out for free, how will they make money considering that it’s a business?. Someone has to pay for the free electricity, and if the government is not ready to pay, they should shut up and stop giving people false hope..we no be mumu.
