this figure is as a result of increased testing capacity to 2000 per day. If the NCDC had been able to do this since March, we would have passed the peak of the virus by now. The only solution is: Increase more in the testing capacity, ease the Lockdown with strict enforcement of the use of facemask with adherence to social distance, and lastly, mount the interstate boarders with heavy security like war zone. By two weeks time if these can be done, we will passed the peak and the chat will start going down.

Actually it is now 2,500 per day and may even be increased further with states like Ogun and Kano making plans of their own.

With this increasing number of cases, the govt still insist on relaxing lockdown. God help us.

How long will they enforce lockdown? We are in lockdown for over a month, with just 10k testing, what is the usefulness of lockdown without testing?

Good one. Lagos is making me proud

Lol, Don't be too happy, Lagos figures is higher than that, Lagos has recently lowered their testing capacity due to the lack of space in isolation centre!!

Wait till they commission new isolation centres and see as the cases skyrocket again!!

I hope the cases is actually dropping in Lagos and not the number of tests done in a day

Sensible question.

Not surprised about the results from Kano. What do you expect from a state where people were already dying of covid and the only test center was shut for days.
Kano has under reported cases

1k plus in lagos
and they want to relax Lockdown.
If I may ask... what was the reason for the Lockdown in the first place.

when the total number of confirmed cases was about 200 you called for Lockdown, now the confirmed cases are above 2,000, and you want to relax Lockdown .
let's watch and see how things will unfold

Exactly my thoughts. When we have densely populated areas plus crowded public buses and markets.

Lockdown should continue

I'm ashamed to write this but didn't have choice and don't want to do what is not right...
Please pardon my write up as I'm not thinking straight right now.

My story goes like this, I'm from Osun state but I live and work in Akwa Ibom I have a job I'm a telecom engineer a Rigger to be precise and I've been doing really good for myself, recently I was advised by my mom to start to save out of my salary and invest in case of raining day in which I oblige and I started saving 20k out of my salary I saved for 10 months which is 200k, during the 10 months I derived myself many good things including better clothes just to achieve my aim, my mom said I should buy a new bike and give it out on a higher purchase in which I bought on the 3rd of April with the help of my mom, she helped me find someone in Osun state and we negotiate on how he's going to make the payment to me, to cut my story short the bike was stolen on 10th of April and the said guy is still in the hospital getting treatment from the wounds he sustain during the struggle with those bike snatchers.

This is where I need help, as I'm typing this my account is on zero and it has been difficult for me to feed myself for some days now, I didn't eat anything throughout today as I live on ordinary water, please fellow nairalander whoever is willing to help should save me from this hunger before I develop ulcer.

Thank you in advance.

Face mask can only do so much, it does not guarantee anything. Only serious social distancing could provide the safety net which a serious lockdown could have made possible. Sadly, we are told, it is not sustenable.

India has just extended their lockdown by 2 weeks and have tested close one million!

For us, it is now a case of "to your tents oh Israel". Your personal protection is now more in your hands. He that has ears to hear, let him hear.

It's on the FAO website...

Hunger kills an average of 25000 pple daily compared to 300,000 pple that has died of covid19 in 4 months
