The Federal Government, on Monday, confirmed the receipt of $311m looted by the late military dictator, Gen. Sani Abacha.

The PUNCH reports that the loot was repatriated from the United States and the Bailiwick of Jersey.

The Attorney General of Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, in a statement by his Special Assistant on Media and Public Relations, Dr Umar Jibrilu Gwandu, said approximately $311,797,866.11 of the Abacha loot was repatriated from the US and Jersey.

I think I can now agree with him, Abacha was saving for Nigeria for the rainy days like this when we are still hawking our crude oil in the international markets with no buyer because of COVID-19.

Despite the evils of the Western govt, I still appreciate them for a level of honesty especially in the investigation and tracking of Abacha loot for several years now. All the ones looted within Nigeria cannot be found, even this one sef, we will not know how the money would be spent.

USA should have just used the money to buy something for Nigeria as 'wise' adults do for foolish kids.

That's why my community refused to disclose we recently discovered Gold reserve in our community for fear of the North, they will mine it and send the money to the North and others will end in their pockets or foreign bank accounts like Abacha did with Niger Delta Oil.
