A former Assistant Commissioner of Police, Hamza Idris Malikawa, has died in Kano State.

Malikawa’s younger brother, Rilwanu, confirmed his death to The PUNCH on Tuesday.

He said the retired police officer died on Monday.

Riliwanu, who is also the media officer of Kano Pillars FC, said, “He was admitted to the hospital three days. He died yesterday (Monday). He is a diabetic patient.”

The PUNCH gathered that the deceased would be buried in Kano on Tuesday.

Mourning the deceased, Pillars tweeted, “Our thought and prayers are with the family of the Media Officer of our darling club, Rilwanu Idris Malikawa, who lost his brother, former Assistant Commissioner of Police, Hamza Idris Malikawa. He would be buried this morning in Kano. May his soul rest in peace!”

The PUNCH had on Monday reported that an Assistant Commissioner of Police, Atiku Nagodi, also died in Kano State on Monday.

Nagodi, 54, until his death, was the Mobile Squadron Commander 9, Police Mobile Force in Kano.

Scores of elite and prominent people have lost their lives to a yet-to-be-identified disease in Kano.

Kano might have overtaken Lagos as d epicentre of this pandemic but because only d tabulation of d death of d elites is brought out it might seem otherwise. Consider dat for every high profile personality dat dies there are so many low income earners or low lives around him then u will appreciate my reasoning . A lot of persons are actually dying in Kano due to this Covid 19 far more than what d authorities are tracking.

Even though people die everytime everywhere.

But the rate at which Kano looses prominent citizens lately should be a cause for worry.

May Allah Rest the souls of the departed.

That is strange. I thought their diet was healthier than their southern counterpart, and also with their hot weather I thought they were in a better position to face the pandemic.

Hot weather is fake news, I wonder why people continue to spread it.
The temperature required to kill Coronavirus will melt your skin.

We cannot keep praying to God to help us and not hold the leaders accountable. They have all stocked up on food items to last 10years, stolen the donated and borrowed funds and are willing to sacrifice Nigerian lives because they have refused to support Nigerians during the lockdown. They are all in self-isolation in their well protected bunkers whilst we all are left to fend for ourselves.

Yeah. I know it’s fake news, but at most the hotter the weather, the weaker it becomes and the less capacity to spread. So the hotter the weather, the better.

The real issues are:

Social Distancing:
Northerners are quite communal in their living.
They feed together, pray together and have community engagements all within a small space.

Hygiene:

Though ablution is a good way of keeping one clean, it isn't done with soap and cannot always be maintained in certain scenarios.

Awareness:
If some educated southerners flout all the regulations, spread outright falsehood and conspiracy theories, imagine what happens in some localities with less access to mainstream media or platforms.

At the end, we must not think we are more superior to anyone else because it is only a matter of time before each of us face our own temptation.
