Pressure Mounts On Buhari To Lockdown Nigeria For 2 Months by LatestTori4Town: 5:03pm On May 07, 2020

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Youth Task Force on COVID-19 has again advised President Muhammadu Buhari to lockdown Nigeria due to rising cases on coronavirus.

Itsey Sagay, Chairman of the Presidential Advisory Committee Against Corruption (PACAC), in his suggestion, said Nigeria should be locked for two months.

Officials of the Buhari administration have also decried the level of compliance by citizens since the lockdown ease.

On Thursday, the Progressive Students Movement (PSM) joined calls to the federal government to impose a fresh ‘stay at home’ order.

PSM President, Bestman Okereafor, spoke in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).

Okereafor expressed concern about facilities, equipment and health workers preparedness in states.

“The Federal Government, as a matter of urgency, should declare a state of emergency in states with the high level of confirmed COVID-19 cases basically to reduce the spread of the pandemic.

“The state of emergency should come on these states through strict enforcement of lockdown for at least two weeks.

“This move had become imperative following the increase in inter-state movement especially at night hours notwithstanding the present night curfew imposed by the Federal Government meant to ensure containment of the pandemic,’’ he said.

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) says the country has recorded confirmed cases to 3,145; death toll has passed 100.

I won't be surprised if locks down the country for another 2wks as many people have refused to abide by the social distancing rule by the government.

Every country are beginning to find ways to live with it and some foolish people are thinking of how to bring us down even with the pitiable state of the economy, my question is
Has the lockdown worked for any country?
With the security breach of our security allowing the influx of almajiri to the south , I think we should just accept our fate, 10,000 tests in 1 month is a joke

It's like locking up the poultry pen after the chickens have escaped!
For 2 months? .. the measure will be counter productive I'm sure.
We lack the capacity for mass testing or isolation at this stage, besides more people will likely die from hunger related causes and other ailments.
.. I think at the best is to allow the people to brave the virus and build some 'acquired immunity'.
After all the death rate from the infection is about 5%..
.. we're all in God's hands now.
Re: Pressure Mounts On Buhari To Lockdown Nigeria For 2 Months by Nobody: 8:58pm On May 07, 2020
They want to lock down 200 million citizens without any palliatives, rapid testing,no electricity and no source of income?

Nigerian's barely literate leaders copied the lockdown measures implemented by the WEST. The WEST provided for its citizens, equipped their hospitals and built new emergency hospitals with 1000-4000 bed capacities. What did Nigerian's barely literate leaders do during the lockdown? Looted all the donated funds, stocked their mansions with food enough to last several life times and went on a loan shopping spree which they have looted as well.

They are asking for trouble if they lockdown this country for 2 months. Anarchy will be unleashed in the land. The Government better be careful with their Draconian and tyrannical treatment of Nigerians.

COVID 19 is a wicked experiment to see how easily you can give up your freedom.
If we protest now, they will look for other alternative to lockdown.
If you don't, you become like an animal in a zoo.
Lockdown and excercise a bit and then lockdown again

During lockdown, the figures still rose.
Lockdown is not the way to go.
More people may loose jobs.

People are already aware that they can contract the virus and die and, they prefer that to being caged like animals.

The lockdown feels worse than dying.
Allow people to make their own choice.

Lockdown is evil
Stop it in the name of Jesus!
