What's Your Lockdown Eve Experience With Food Purchases by ruffhandu: 10:11pm On May 07, 2020
My wife bought two tubers of yam for N1000 each at Rainbow market on Wednesday, a day before Port Harcourt total lockdown.
I took the tubers to the car. She changed her mind and decided to add one more tuber, when she got back to the seller, he inflated it to N1,500, (it wasn't up to 5 minutes she bought the first set) . She felt exploited of course and didn't make the purchase.

Later that same day her friend came around. She told her friend how market women were doing shakara- how ugu was sold for N200 per small bunch and the sellers will curse you if you dare haggle price with them the way they don't like. Buyers were at their mercy.

Then her friend shared her own experience. Told of how a tomato seller insisted that she doesn't sell shombo alone, it has to be alongside tomatoes. Meaning, if you're not buying tomatoes, you can't buy the pepper. Another woman called her to come buy the pepper at cut-throat price.

The panick buying caused all this. Las Las, we dey the lockdown together.
Share your experience if any Biko. Na here we dey.
