Ps 73

Whom hav I in heaven but you
and there is noone I desire upon earth besides you
My flesh and my heart fail
But God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever

Ps77
v4
You hold my eyelids open
I am so troubled that I can't speak
I have considered the days of Old
The years of ancient times
I call to remebrance my song in the night
I meditate within my heart
and my spirit makes diligent search

Will the Lord cast off forever
and will he be favorable no more
has his mercy ceased forever
Has his promise failed forevemore
Has God forgotten to be gracious
Has He in anger, shut up His tender mercies

Who's next wink

Hmm, I don't know if I have a favourite Psalm. Every chapter of the Psalms highlights something special for me in particular situations or circumstances.

Lately, I have come to love Psalm 26. We are daily exposed to sets of choices; and one that often comes up is that about choosing close friends. I'll just let the Psalmist David speak as he does in this Psalm:

1 Judge me, O LORD; for I have walked in mine integrity:
I have trusted also in the LORD; therefore I shall not slide.

2 Examine me, O LORD, and prove me; try my reins and my heart.
3 For thy lovingkindness is before mine eyes: and I have walked in thy truth.
4 I have not sat with vain persons, neither will I go in with dissemblers.

5 I have hated the congregation of evil doers; and will not sit with the wicked.
6 I will wash mine hands in innocency: so will I compass thine altar, O LORD:
7 That I may publish with the voice of thanksgiving, and tell of all thy wondrous works.

8 LORD, I have loved the habitation of thy house, and the place where thine honour dwelleth.
9 Gather not my soul with sinners, nor my life with bloody men:
10 In whose hands is mischief, and their right hand is full of bribes.

11 But as for me, I will walk in mine integrity: redeem me, and be merciful unto me.
12 My foot standeth in an even place: in the congregations will I bless the LORD.

It doesn't make me feel superior to others; but it is one of those precious gems that help me reflect on whether or not I'm aiming to be a good influence to others.

I really love this Psalm.

Psalm 16 vs 18.

" He sent from above, he took me, he drew me out of many waters."

Psalm 16 is one of my favorite Psalms.

Another Psalm that I also like is Psalm 81:7

"Thou calledst in trouble, and I delivered thee; I answered thee in the secret place of thunder: I proved thee at the waters of Meribah. Selah."

Another verse that I find consolation in is the Psalm 23.

"He Leadeth me in the Paths of Righteousness".

God has been very faithful to me in my sojourn on earth, particularly in America. I really feel a deeper appreciation/understanding to His manifold mercies to me when I read Psalms 16 and 81.

Lol. Okay, I promised to come back and 'donate' a Psalm grin - here it is:

Psalm 113:2 & 3
Blessed be the name of the LORD from this time forth and for evermore.
From the rising of the sun unto the going down of the same the LORD'S name is to be praised.

These two verses have always been my daily capsules to help me focus on choices that would honour God's Name rather than dishonour Him. It is not just a matter of keeping from sin; but a conscious, deliberate effort to apply myself to choices in my daily walk that cause God's Name to be praised and honoured in all I do.

I love Psalm 139 so so much
Here it is

139:1 O lord, thou hast searched me, and known me.

139:2 Thou knowest my downsitting and mine uprising, thou understandest my thought afar off.

139:3 Thou compassest my path and my lying down, and art acquainted with all my ways.

139:4 For there is not a word in my tongue, but, lo, O LORD, thou knowest it altogether.

139:5 Thou hast beset me behind and before, and laid thine hand upon me.

139:6 Such knowledge is too wonderful for me; it is high, I cannot attain unto it.

139:7 Whither shall I go from thy spirit? or whither shall I flee from thy presence?

139:8 If I ascend up into heaven, thou art there: if I make my bed in hell, behold, thou art there.

139:9 If I take the wings of the morning, and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea;

139:10 Even there shall thy hand lead me, and thy right hand shall hold me.

139:11 If I say, Surely the darkness shall cover me; even the night shall be light about me.

139:12 Yea, the darkness hideth not from thee; but the night shineth as the day: the darkness and the light are both alike to thee.

139:13 For thou hast possessed my reins: thou hast covered me in my mother's womb.

139:14 I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvellous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well.

139:15 My substance was not hid from thee, when I was made in secret, and curiously wrought in the lowest parts of the earth.

139:16 Thine eyes did see my substance, yet being unperfect; and in thy book all my members were written, which in continuance were fashioned, when as yet there was none of them.

139:17 How precious also are thy thoughts unto me, O God! how great is the sum of them!

139:18 If I should count them, they are more in number than the sand: when I awake, I am still with thee.

139:19 Surely thou wilt slay the wicked, O God: depart from me therefore, ye bloody men.

139:20 For they speak against thee wickedly, and thine enemies take thy name in vain.

139:21 Do not I hate them, O LORD, that hate thee? and am not I grieved with those that rise up against thee?

139:22 I hate them with perfect hatred: I count them mine enemies.

139:23 Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts:

139:24 And see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.

Psa 50:5 & 6:

Gather my saints together unto me;
those that have made a covenant with me by sacrifice.

And the heavens shall declare his righteousness:
for God is judge himself. Selah.

This is one Psalm I love when circumstances try to make me miss church. As long as nothing is keeping me from being in His presence on Sunday, i'll be there to count as one of those who has found the perfect Sacrifice -- Jesus Christ (I Pet. 1:18-21).

Ps 121
i lift up my eyes to the hills
where does my help come from?
my help comes from the lord,
the maker of heaven and earth.
He will not let your foot slip
he who watches over you will not slumber,
indeed,he who watches over Isreal will neither slumber nor sleep.
The lord watches over you
the lord is your shade at your right hand:
the sun will not harm you by day,
nor the moon by night.
the lord will keep you from all harm
he will watch over your life:
the lord will watch over your coming and going
both now and forevermore.

i love this psalm,it helps me to know that there is someone who will not forsake me, i can always run to God for help and he will always be there to protect and watch over me.

I have many Psalms i love. i'd mention two of them;
Psalm 46;
1 God is our refuge and strength,
A very present help in trouble.
2 Therefore we will not fear, though the earth should change
And though the mountains slip into the heart of the sea;
3 Though its waters roar and foam,
Though the mountains quake at its swelling pride.

Selah.

4 There is a river whose streams make glad the city of God,
The holy dwelling places of the Most High.
5 God is in the midst of her, she will not be moved;
God will help her when morning dawns.
6 The nations made an uproar, the kingdoms tottered;
He raised His voice, the earth melted.
7 The LORD of hosts is with us;
The God of Jacob is our stronghold.

Selah.

8 Come, behold the works of the LORD,
Who has wrought desolations in the earth.
9 He makes wars to cease to the end of the earth;
He breaks the bow and cuts the spear in two;
He burns the chariots with fire.
10 “Cease striving and know that I am God;
I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.”
11 The LORD of hosts is with us;
The God of Jacob is our stronghold.

Selah

Likewise I love Psalm 42
1 As the deer pants for the water brooks,
So my soul pants for You, O God.
2 My soul thirsts for God, for the living God;
When shall I come and appear before God?
3 My tears have been my food day and night,
While they say to me all day long, “Where is your God?”
4 These things I remember and I pour out my soul within me.
For I used to go along with the throng and lead them in procession to the house of God,
With the voice of joy and thanksgiving, a multitude keeping festival.
5 Why are you in despair, O my soul?
And why have you become disturbed within me?
Hope in God, for I shall again praise Him
For the help of His presence.
6 O my God, my soul is in despair within me;
Therefore I remember You from the land of the Jordan
And the peaks of Hermon, from Mount Mizar.
7 Deep calls to deep at the sound of Your waterfalls;
All Your breakers and Your waves have rolled over me.
8 The LORD will command His lovingkindness in the daytime;
And His song will be with me in the night,
A prayer to the God of my life.
9 I will say to God my rock, “Why have You forgotten me?
Why do I go mourning because of the oppression of the enemy?”
10 As a shattering of my bones, my adversaries revile me,
While they say to me all day long, “Where is your God?”
11 Why are you in despair, O my soul?
And why have you become disturbed within me?
Hope in God, for I shall yet praise Him,
The help of my countenance and my God.

dezi:

Ps 121
i lift up my eyes to the hills
where does my help come from?

Beautiful. A brother shared that verse as being rather a challenging and inspiring question rather than a conclusion. The point was that the Psalmist was not looking to the hills for help. Sometimes, a few of us miss this point when we read it in our common English Bibles as:

vs. 1 - "I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help." (KJV)

The brother went on to show that Godly people look to the LORD for help (as the Psalmist points out in the verse after vs. 1); and again as we find in Jeremiah 3:23 --

"Truly in vain is salvation hoped for from the hills, and from the multitude of mountains:
truly in the LORD our God is the salvation of Israel."

Re: Fav'rite Psalm--and Why?
mine is Psalm 1 cos it defines my whole essence of living.

"Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night.
."But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night. And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper." (Psalm 1:1-3).
