That's the main limitation of the application.They should assign PINs and give BB a run for their money.Its about time Nokia do something about this 'cos they're losing big time to Steve Jobs and the retards at RIM.

I thnk the fone numba method is beta than the pin issue, cos u'll see ur contact 1ce they are in ur fone book.

What if they're not in your phonebook?It's much easier to give out PINs to people for security reasons.

very true a phone number is more personal than a pin or user id, but i think whatsapp is meant to be used amongs friends,people u already have thier contacts or people close to u, not anonymous people you meet on forums/internet.
u can simply go on a crusade and insist your friends install d app, or weneva u come across ya frnd, just collect thier fone n install d app on it. u will be suprised how soon you wil hav many users with whatsapp on ya contacts.
also we r all different, some people do not see anybig deal in giving thier fone number 2 strangers. some even for public veiwin on facebook. so to each its own,
