EMOTIONAL MANAGEMENT STRATEGY

The first step in regulating and managing emotions is learning to identify and label them as they occur. This ability often requires not only the ability to observe one’s emotional responses in situations but also to describe with a sense of accuracy the context in which the emotions occur.

Emotional management been the ability to realize, readily accept, as well as successfully control feelings in oneself and having a complete authority over changes in ones thoughts and feelings that are generated whenever ones values are touched by the actions of a person or an event. Emotions can be positive or negative, giving pleasure or discomfort. The feeling can be slight or intense. It can also last for a shorter or longer period.

Those who express positive emotions live a happy and fulfilled life, they are empathetic, they are cooperative and get along well with others, prone to giving and sharing, considerate, ability to develop close friendship, ability to make effective decisions & choices, motivated in the midst of challenges, they get work done effectively and efficiently and are considered for leadership roles.

And on the other hand negative emotions, opens you to fear, aggressiveness, depression, anxiety, experience sadness, crying and falling under stress more easily, overreacting to minor frustration with anger, being overly sensitive to criticism, having trouble delaying gratifications, and always sulky.

Emotional patterns can be developed or change to some degree, that is, one who becomes easily frightened can learn to be calmer, hence our emotional capabilities can be improved with the right learning and managing of our emotions.

To conclude with, poor emotional management can destroy a person’s personal and professional life, while proficiency in emotional management skill is essential to develop inner self-security and become able to effectively deal with the pressures and obstacles that will inevitably arise in our lives.
