ASUU Decline Meeting With FG Via Zoom Platform “see Reasons” by Nobody: 2:44pm On May 14, 2020
The head of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Professor Biodun Ogunyemi, has revealed that the union has been unable to hold a physical meeting with the Federal Government due to the pandemic.

He also explained that the union refused to hold a meeting through the Zoom platform with representatives of the Federal Government, saying that such meetings would not yield any tangible results, since it would be difficult to control.

According to ASUU President, Minister of Labor and Employment Chris Ngige invited the union to a meeting in Abuja, in response to the latest official union correspondence where the union rejected the submission of its Bank Verification Numbers as a condition of payment. of outstanding teachers’ salaries.

However, union delegates were unable to attend the meeting due to the current lock down that prompted the minister to suggest that both sides meet through the Zoom platform.

Concluding part of the report:

...He said the union is waiting for things to return to normal for a physical meeting to be possible.

He acknowledged that the government has paid the wages of some union members, but not all. “Many of our members have not yet received their wages as of Monday, and some of those who had even received payment were not paid in full. We are collecting data to allow us to know those affected, ”he said.

However, he said that wages are not his main government demand, but rather the implementation of the latest Action Memorandum to redesign the nation’s public university education.

The ASUU president said that no union member filed BVN before their wages were paid.

“We knew that the presentation of our BVN would lead to our forceful participation in the Integrated System of Personal Payroll Information (IPPIS) of the Federal Government and we are still against the policy,” he said.

See how unintelligent ASUU sounds.

" Such meetings get out of control"

As academics why not propose solutions? So you can't hold a meeting if the epidemic drags on?

Anyways, my grouse with them is that I want universities to resume on time. A fresh babe of mine has been sending naughty pictures... I need to touch the melons in real life. grin
