SGF: With Increased Capacity, FG Targets 2 Million Testing by June

•Says another lockdown isn’t on the cards

•Mulls isolated restrictions in troubled areas

Mustapha said contrary to insinuations doing the rounds about another lockdown, the federal government was only contemplating “isolated lockdowns” in troubled parts of the country.

Speaking on measures to curb the spread of the coronavirus, Mustapha flatly dismissed the possibility of another nationwide lockdown. He said the idea was no longer expedient in view of some of the latest developments. But he said some cluster areas in certain parts of the country would be closely monitored for possible intervention as might be deemed necessary and advised by experts.

Further addressing the swirling speculations that another lockdown might be imminent given the general state of response to the pandemic, Mustapha said such a decision was not on the cards yet, especially given that enforcement had not been as impressive as envisaged in the overall plan against the spread of the virus.

He was, however, sure there might be isolated lockdowns in some parts of the country, which might not affect the entire states in question but the affected portions of the states for ease of administration, enforcement and monitoring. This, he said, would be worked out with the states in question with a view to ensuring that the rest of the country was not put at risk, citing the federal government’s intervention in Kano State as an example of how the isolated lockdown as well as the involvement of the federal government might look.

He noted that the federal government was closely monitoring the situation reports across the country to be able to ascertain when and where to come in, mentioning specifically the climbing numbers in Lagos, which he said was being religiously monitored.

Some states have taken over the lockdown orders from the FG which they dish out at will, Mr Boss need not worry again.

I just want to urge you all to please fear God or anything you hold dear.

The suffering occasioned by the lockdown is becoming unbearable. Only Government workers seems not bothered.

If you care to know majority of the workers in private establishments have become vulnerables.

In another word, Only states with spikes like Lagos would be shutdown.

Lagos State Govt and NCDC would be happy with this news... More money to their account.

This government has never made any sense right from the beginning of this pandemic. What's bedeviling this country is not total or isolated lockdown. By the time hunger lockdown begins none of u will be able to bear it.

Only the very advanced countries can sustain it for a longer duration, third world countries can't for more than two months,we are a fourth world country, so a total lockdown is out of the question.

I read the write up and I still don't understand what is meant by "Isolated Lockdown" .

We have to live with the pandemic, like an unwanted benign growth and hope it goes quietly on its own.

Last last, everybody go enter street because Hungerbad and then it trickles down to the Law of Natural Selection.

Modified: Isolated Lockdown means, only the worst-hit regions in the state or country would be on lockdown

Worryingly, they seem confused. Lockdown without palliatives betrays the essence of the entire exercise in the first place. Consequently, those first phases of lockdown were just a waste of time, energy and resources. Survival instinct says "I prefer dying of COVID-19, instead of hunger".
I hope they have learned that vital lesson, if not, we will only be moving in circles

No need for another lockdown. Just use this measures;

1. Do more testing

2. Wearing of face mask and use of hand sanitizers

3. Continuous banning of large gathering, churches, mosques till situations improve.

Isolated lockdown ideal, if necessary. Somehow, it's seems the virus is losing its virulence....the world maybe heal automatically through herd immunity and not necessarily through vaccination. People with underlying ailments will continue to suffer the worse till vaccination or proper treatment protocol is established. In any case... CoVID19 don show the world pepper, and the world is already moving on to adapting to live with it.
