A childless older couple convinced a teenager to keep a pregnancy she wanted to terminate and adopted the baby without any legal process. Just verbal agreement between the people involved. Are there any consequence to this kind of arrangement? What are the most likely consequence? N.B; The husband was terminally ill, hence the urgency for adoption. Infact, the man died barely one year after the adoption. |

The couple should make sure the adoption has legal backing. The teenage girl might change her mind after a while and says she wants her child back, infact the police might get them arrested claiming they bought the baby from the girl......therefore, there should be the involvement of a lawyer. The man being terminally ill changes nothing, the child still isn't legally theirs......They should have just gone to an orphanage and go through the normal process of adopting a child, the process might be long but it is still the safest way to adopt. 3 Likes |

Mariangeles: Please discontinue with the word "adoption" because there is no legal backing to that child living with them and it does not terminate the rights of the child's biological mother as she can always come back for the child. |

Personally, its not a big deal. So people, if the child changes her mind in a legal case, You wouldn't respect the child's right to her biological Mum? I understand the legal standings though but should that deny the child of basic right. |

LadySarah: So that it will be said in future that the man saw and accepted the baby while he was on this planet.. just in case the man's family questions the authenticity/ legality of acceptance.. Everyone knows he's not going to be the one to take care of the baby.. |
