The same is with easter. The orthodox and eastern churches celebrate a week later. The eastern churches are the traditional churches in the middle east and eastern europe.

Also, some eastern churches mark Ash Monday, not Ash Wednesday. These discrepancies arent even as a result of human weakness or being unable to sight the crescent. These differences in Christianity are bigger and year in and year out and based on historical divisions.

Why not go to Russia and asked from them, But Remember Dec 25 is Christmas Day celebration eight days after is January 1st.. The calendar is what you must follow by fire, by force either you like it or not..
