THE GIRL WHO FAKED HER DEATH (REAL STORY)

On Tuesday night, this story was on front page and I promised to tell the real story as soon as i am less busy. So here it is;

Some minutes past noon on Wednesday May 19, 2020, I was on my bed trying to have my nap when a message came into my family line. When I checked, it was my cousin sis, she had sent me a facebook link. Normally I don’t like opening links especially any link from facebook and whatsapp because of the graphic contents and I also warned my families never to send me broadcast from this platforms. Now this my sis has never sent me a link before so it was strange to me. I looked at my phone and saw ‘family raises alarm over daughter’s death, secret burial by friends’ on the nation online ng news platform. I scanned through the body of the message (see photos below) without opening the link but still didn’t get the message maybe because I wanted to sleep at that time or maybe because I wasn’t just interested. So I replied my sis ‘lols what do you want me to do with the news? To look for the girl or what?’
My sis knew right there that I didn’t read it then told me that is Margaret. I jumped from the bed and said which Margaret? She said our Margaret na. I was confused just the same way we are today, Margaret was still in the house going about her work, so how could that be? At a point I thought someone was impersonating her, so I opened the link to understand what was happening. I read all the stories and was so shocked to believe all I was reading to even think that she impersonated a corpse and even my other sis in the dummy facebook account that was opened for the drama.

WHO IS MARGARET IKUMU?

Margaret Ikumu with the facebook ID Margaret David is our domestic maid. She is a 20 year old girl from benue state. Before now, we have never issues with her. I can boastfully say that she was well taken care of. We took care of all her basic needs. We were good to her just like she said at the police station. She was well loved by everyone, I mean everyone which included families, neighbors, family friends and all. Margaret has a charming smile that captivates everyone and even when anyone is angry with her, the girl will just smile. I have never seen her frown before now, I use to tell her she can laugh for Africa. Just around this February, I remember telling one of my sis that I don’t like domestic maids who laugh a lot (that was when they were appreciating her for her laughing nature) I said I don’t like domestic staff who laugh anyhow, I love those with the serious look though people tend to get scared of them. I told my sis I feel those who have a lot are the ones trying to cover up something but what do I know?
Margaret had access to everything in the house because she had become part of the family. There was no much restrictions… in fact she was the family home accountant, all the upkeep and maintenance money was in her care. Money for food, fuel, miscellaneous money was in her purse and whenever we run out of stock or anything, we call her to bring out money to get them. We call her accountant. That’s how close she was to us. Margaret wasn’t just our accountant, she was also our typist. We taught her how to use the laptop so sometimes, we give her documents to type. Papa loves Margaret doing his typing. That’s how much she was trusted. She is most times always at home alone because everyone is busy with work and business so there was no stress.

HOW WE KNEW WHAT WAS HAPPENING ON THE MEDIA

On Monday May 15, 2020, there was a brief annoyance in the house between my sis and Margaret. Margaret had asked to assist my sis in taking photos of her packaged food business so while sending my sis the photos she snap, she mistakenly sent her own photo along with the food photos. My sis was shocked to see her wig on Margaret head in the photo she mistakenly sent. My sis is the type that is very careful with anything pertaining to her head so she doesn’t like sharing wigs or any hair accessories even very careful with whosoever will make her hair so seeing the photo of Margaret wearing her wig got her angry and she scolded Margaret and even reported her to her dad. The matter was settled and my sis told Margaret never to try such again and that if she does it, her late mom who just passed away February will pull the wig off her head and send her out of the house. Everyone laughed at the statement, unknown to us, Margaret has been cooking something big for the family.
Wednesday May 19, 2020, my sis received lots of forwarded messages and calls asking ‘is this not your sis? Is this not you? What is happening?’ even at my other sis place of work, the same questions to the extent that she was laid off from work because according to the hospital where she works, they don’t want their name in the media. That same Wednesday, we were confused, we didn’t understand what was going on though since the stories on the media says they are looking for Margaret supposed friend, we didn’t tell Margaret anything, we just told her to dress up, get into the car and we drove to the police station to report.
If you followed the story on the social media or on the radio, you must have heard that Margaret was said to have died and her 2 friends buried her secretly without informing the family. You must have also heard that the so called friends communicated with the family on facebook and with a number insulting them and accusing them for negligence and you must have also read the role her supposed boy friend Sylvester who is also currently at the police detention played in communicating with her family claiming to be aware that Margaret was dead but don’t know the cause of her death. Also you must have seen the role of a supposed friend who claimed Margaret works in a saloon and lives with the owner of the saloon, Margaret was bleeding in her nose and was supposed to go for a nose surgery but don’t know if the surgery was the cause of her death. Now all these so called friend communicating on facebook are all dummy accounts with a fake name but my sisters photos opened solely for this mission unknown to everyone of us. Funny enough, we didn’t even know she was on facebook not until 2 days ago on Tuesday we got aware of what was happening online. I spent the whole night going through her facebook ID and found out that she had even deleted a lot of things before she was handed to the police. Even the dummy friends account had been deactivated but I was able to gather somethings online especially from those who had screenshot photos of her dead body, messages and all. I also gathered information from some of her facebook friends she had been communicating to as regards to her death.

WHY DID SHE FAKE HER OWN DEATH?

Though Margaret is isn’t saying much but all she said was that she wanted her family to believe she was dead so she could start a new life. She also said she wanted to leave the house… What we still don’t understand is why she impersonated my sis and her late mother corpse (passed on this February) in her plots. Was Margaret the only one operating those dummy accounts or there are other accomplices? We still don’t know but I think it was a conspiracy or blackmail loading. Her phone was searched and we saw lots of families photos of even 3 years ago she downloaded from their facebook accounts. There could be a whole lot surrounding this drama that we are yet to unravel. I am also surprised that her family who raised up the issue online and media are yet to say something as regards this matter or even update the public the koko of the matter instead what is online now is that the Margaret came out of her hiding. Hiding kwa? Someone that has been in the house doing her work all this while…

If you must hire a domestic maid, please careful of who you bring into your home. We didn't do proper background check, the day she came for an interview, she came with all her things and we got carried away with her smiles... It's so sad because this is the second bad experience i personally will be having with these benue domestic staff. What I still understand is that, there boyfriend or supposed brother is always their partners in crime. My 22 year old benue state female staff stole 550k from my shop in the course of investigation, her boyfriend was an accomplice. Her parents use my religion status to beg, send ministers from their church to beg me and even promised to pay but till date shishi I no see. I had to let go of it and move on.

We are grateful to God that she didn't run away or leave the house before we saw or heard what was happening if not, we would have been in a serious problem by now. To this I say Thank you Jesus.

PLEASE DO YOUR BACKGROUND CHECK APPROPRIATELY WHEN HIRING DOMESTIC STAFF.

Biko forgive my gbagaun!
